I± INTRODUCTION

A Geological survey was carried out over cut lines

on the claims in September and October 1989.

II. LOCATION, ACCESS AND OWNERSHIP

The property is located in the west central part

of Gauthier Township, just north of the south boundary,

Larder Lake Mining Division, District of Temiskaming,

Ontario. The claims are numbered L1046094 and 1046095.

They are recorded in the name of Skead Holdings Ltd., c/o

P.O. Box 1110, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario,

Highway 66, a paved highway passes to the north

of the claims. A bush road passable to 4-wheel drive

vehicles extends south from the highway through the centre

and along the north and west side of the claims. The claims

are about 6 miles west of Larder Lake and 12 miles east

of Kirkland Lake, both on Highway 66.

III. PREVIOUS EXPLORATION

Some stripping has been carried out on one small

outcrop along the north boundary. Most of the claims appear

to be drift covered.

IV. TOPOGRAPHY

Nearly all of the property is covered by

Pleistocene, sand, gravel or swamp. In the sandy areas

which cover a large part of the property, forest cover con

sists of jackpine, spruce and some poplar and labrador tea.

The swampy areas are covered with black spruce, alder, willow

and some poplar. There is a small pond near the north east

corner.

V. MAPPING PROCEDURE

A grid of picket lines were cut in a north-south

direction from base lines cut along the east-west property

boundaries. Crosslines were cut approximately every 400

feet from the baseline. The picket lines were chained and

picketed every 100-feet.

Lines were traversed in search of bedrock outcrops.

Where found the rock was broken to check lithology and sam

ples taken in most cases.

VI. GENERAL GEOLOGY

The general geology of Gauthier Township has been

described by J. E. Thomson S Q.T. Giffis. The area is under

lain by early Precambrian volcanic, sedimentary and intrusive

rocks. The area is crossed by the Larder Lake Break, a

zone of carbonatization and shearing.

VII. PROPERTY GEOLOGY

Rock exposure on the claims is poor except for

a small area in the north central part of the claims. Here

a small area has been previously stripped exposing a rusty

gossan. The rock is a mafic volcanic, heavily impregated

with pyrite both disseminated and as stringers. Just to

the east of this there is an outcrop of strongly carbonatized

mafic volcanic. Samples were taken of both the gossan and

carbonatized volcanics.

Trenches were found along the south central boun

dary. No rock was in evidence around most of these trenches.

At one location angular gabbro or coarse diorite boulders

were found. They may represent bedrock, but appear to be

float.

VIII. CONCLUSIONS

The sulphide (gossan) and carbonated volcanic

rocks along the north boundary waarrant further examination.

Samples now out for assay may indicate any economic

potential. The area warrants some further stripping and

sampling.
