INTRODUCTION
Rayan Exploration Limited of Timmins, Ontario was hired by Honeta Porcupine Mines Inc. to conduct a Total Field Magnetometer Survey on a group of claims located in Walker, Clergue, and Taylor Tov/nships. This report describes the parameters and results on three non-contiguous claims in Walker Twp. and one claim in Taylor Township, ail located in the Larder Lake Mining Division, Ontario.
The purpose of the survey was to map the magnetic susceptability to help interpret the geology and areas to do follow up work on. The survey was done along chained compass lines tied in to claim boundaries and topography and as such was intended as a reconnaissance survey.
LOCATION AMD ACC3SS
Three of the claims are located in V/alker Twp. and the fourth ciaim in Taylor Twp. directly to tne south, approximately i2km south of the town of Iroquois Fails, all within the Cochrane District, Larder Lake Hining Division, Ontario {see tigs.l,2,3).
Access to ail 4 biocXs is excellent, via Hwy. lin and secondary roads.
CLAIM STATUS
The work was done on 4 non-contiguous block claims, 3 in Walker Twp., and l in Taylor Twp., Larder Lake Mining Division, Ontario. The 4 claims are described as follows:

GEOLOGY
The property is shown on the Timmins-Kirxiand Lake Map No. 2205, to be situated within the Abitibi Greenstone Belt which covers much of northeastern Ontario and northwestern Quebec.
Generally this belt is underlain by a variety of mafic*to feisic volcanics and related sediments as well as felsic to ultramafic intrusive.
Map 2205, Timmins Kirkland Lake Geological Compilation Series shows the northern three claims, 1204365,1204366, and 1204456 to be underlain by mafic volcanics with east west striking intermediate volcanic flows and pyroclastics. Numerous north south diabase dykes are shown on the claim areas.
GSOPHYSICAL PROGRAM
Chained, compass flagged lines v/ere established on each claim group in a north south direction at iOOm intervals and markers every 25m. A common base station was used to tie the results on each property together.
The following is a brief description on the Geophysical Survey Method used:
MAGNETOMETER SURVEY
An EDA Omni Plus Proton Precession magnetometer v/as used to carry out the magnetometer survey. The instrument is synchronized with an EDA recording base station to help eliminate magnetic diurnal variation. This should ensure an accuracy of less than 10 Nt.
The Proton Precession method involves energizing a wire coil immersed in a hydrocarbon fluid. This causes the protons in the proton rich fluid to spin or precess simulating spinning magnetic dipoles. When the current is removed the protons precess about the direction of the earth's magnetic field, generating a signal in the same coil v/h i eh is proportional to the total magnetic field intensity. In this way, the horizontal gradient of the earth's magnetic field can be measured and plotted in p^an form with values of equal intensity joined to form a contour map.
This presentation is useful in correlating with other data sets to aid in structural interpretation. Individual magnetic responses can be interpreted for dip, depth and width estimates after profiling the data.
The following parameters v/ere employed for the survey:
Instrument - EDA Omni Plus Proton Precession MagnetometerStation Interval - 25mLine Interval - iconDiurnal Correction Method - EDA Recording Base stationData Presentation - Magnetic Data Posting and Contour Map
- 1:5000 scale Contour Interval - 50 nT Datum Subtracted from ali postings - 57000nT
SURVEY RESULTS
The reconnaissance magnetometer surveys carried out on the Walker-Taylor township properties was successful in outlining a number of features that should be further investigated. The results obtained from each grid will be correlated as best as possible with the geology of the area, as shown by Map 2205, Timmins-Kirkland Lake Geological Compilation Series. Each clam will be discussed individually and in further detail below.
It should be noted that the same base station value was used for ail the data resulting in one common base level for the values.
Claim t 1204365
The magnetics conducted on this claim show a high extending generally north south along the claims eastern boundary. This may be the continuation of a diabase dike that ma? 2205 shows stopping at the Driftwood River.
A second feature outlined is a magnetic high that runs from L2W/3+25N to L6W/2+25N. This zone may be of more interest as it is striking generally in the same direction of the regional geology. As a result it may be marking some type of geological structure that may be mineralized.
Claim # 1204366
Hap 2205 shows a series of diabase dikes extending through this claim. As a result the interpretation of the magnetics for this claim is made difficult. A magnetic high extending from L12W/BLO to L8W/8+OOS is likely marking one of the diabase dikes shown to extend through the block. A series of these dikes are shown to be offset and merging are likely responsible for the erratic magnetics that make up the eastern 1/3 of the claim.
It is difficult to pick out any definite east west trending magnetics within the block. Despite the lack of magnetic signature, llap 2205 shows this area to be underlain by pyroclastic rocks which is a favourable geological setting.
Claim tt 1204456
This claim is shown to be situated ]ust north of the Pipestone Fault. The high magnetics within the southern portion of this claim tend to suggest that the claim may be straddling a portion of the fault, or possibly splays off the main fault system. These faults may also contain some of the sediments that are shown to be south of the fault. The magnetics also show a north-south trending high on L2W flanked by a low on L3W. One or both these that may represent one of the cross-faults shown to occur within this area.
Claim tt 1204453
The main magnetic feature shown within this claim is a high running diagonally through the southwest corner. As shown on the plan map, this response is due to the Trans-Canada Pipeline that extends through the block.
A magnetic high striking north south along the claims eastern boundary is likely marking a diabase dike, as shown by Map 2205. The remainder of the claim shows no significant magnetic change.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS
The magnetometer surveys carried out in this work program provided an accurate account of the ground magnetic susceptabil ity on the four claims covered. Although a number of magnetic features were outlined, other than the diabase dikes, the source of these is still questionable. This data should be compiled with any other geological or geophysical information available. This would allow for a more complete assessment or each of the claims.
If it is felt that more additional work is v;arran~ed, a number of options are available. A HLEH survey would outline any conductive zones, v/h i le an Induced Polarization would outline zones of disseminated sulphides that may not have responded to the magnetometer or HLEM surveys.
Ali of the claims surveyed are located within a favourable geological environment for gold deposition. As a result ail would seem to be v/orthy o t some type of follow up v/ork.
