ITEM A4 – MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC
The following sentence shall be included under the Scope heading:
The Contractor must ensure one access road to the Jamieson property is open to traffic
at all times. This will require the north access road to be completed and opened to
traffic, prior to starting any work that blocks the south Jamieson property access.

ITEM A18 - EARTH EXCAVATION (GRADING)
The % Passing by Weight for 19mm Crusher Run for Sieve Designation 75 um of 0-8 is

The % Passing by Weight for 50mm Crusher Run for Sieve Designation 75 um of 3-8 is
deleted and replaced with 0-10%.
ITEM A24 – TOPSOIL AND SOD/SEED
The following sentences shall be added to the section titled Topsoil and Seed:
Seed mixtures #8170 and #8145 shall have Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) and
Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) added to these standard seed mixtures. These
species should comprise a total of 2% of the total mixture.

pipe with 8.6mm thickness including bedding and backfill and filling with mortar mix or
expandable foam after relocation by open excavation for relocation of existing underground
ENWIN plant. Top of pipe must be placed a minimum of 152cm below base of rail and to
ENWIN’s required standards.
ITEM A26C – CONDUIT PLACEMENT FOR UNION GAS
The Contractor shall, for the lump sum bid price, supply and place 2 - 150mm diameter steel
casing pipes with 4.8mm thickness including bedding and backfill and filling with mortar mix or
expandable foam after relocation by open excavation for relocation of existing underground
Union Gas plant. Top of pipe must be placed a minimum of 152cm below base of rail and to
ENWIN’s required standards.
ITEM A26D – CONDUIT PLACEMENT FOR COGECO

The Contractor shall, for the lump sum bid price, supply and place a 150mm diameter steel
casing pipes with 4.8mm thickness including bedding and backfill and filling with mortar mix or
expandable foam after relocation by open excavation for relocation of existing
underground/aerial Cogeco utility. Top of pipe must be placed a minimum of 152cm below base
of rail and to Cogeco’s required standards.
NEW: ITEM A33 – REMOVE AND SALVAGE PRIVATE SPRINKLER SYSTEM
Payment at the lump sum price bid for work under this item will consist of all the labour
and equipment necessary for the removal of the sprinkler system, heads, valves and pipe
within the excavation limits. The salvaged heads, valves and pipes shall be offered to the
property owner first. If refused the material shall become property of the contractor and
disposed of offsite.
NEW: ITEM A34 – REMOVE AND SALVAGE CHAIN LINK FENCE
Payment at the lump sum price bid for work under this item will consist of all the labour and equipment necessary for the removal of all chain link fences including gates and signs of all types and sizes including concrete footings.
The fence material shall be offered to the property owner. If refused, the fence shall become the property of the Contractor and disposed of outside the right-of-way.
Payment for the removal of temporary fence or silt fence will not be included for payment under this item.
NEW: ITEM A35 - BOLLARDS
MTO Special Provision No. 599S27 Modified September 2007
1. SCOPE
This Special Provision covers the requirements for the installation of bollards.

5. MATERIALS
5.1 Pipe

Galvanized steel pipe shall meet the requirements of OPSS 603 for steel conduit.
5.2 Concrete
Concrete shall meet the requirements of OPSS 1350, 30 MPa class.
5.3 Reflective Tape
Reflective tape shall be non-metallic 6-inch Engineering Grade (Type I) Safety Reflective Tape in yellow colour.
6. EQUIPMENT – Not Used
7. CONSTRUCTION
Bollards shall be installed plumb and at the same height as indicated in the Contract Drawings and marked with a reflective tape following the placement. Three tape stripes shall be placed starting at the top with 100mm separation between each stripe.
7.1 Quality Control
The Contractor shall inspect the work to ensure that it complies with the requirements of the Contract including placement of bollards with respect to the cabinet pad and roadside barrier, plumb position, sufficient concrete fill and application of the reflective tape on bollards.
8. QUALITY ASSURANCE – Not Used
9. MEASUREMENT FOR PAYMENT
For measurement purposes, a count shall be made of the number of bollards installed.
10. BASIS OF PAYMENT
Payment at the Contract price for the above tender item shall be full compensation for all labour, Equipment and Materials required to do the work including earth excavation, concrete work and backfilling.
ITEM E1 – CONSTRUCT TRACK
The following paragraph shall be included under the section entitled TIES:
Cross ties shall be new, minimum 6" x 8" x 8' treated hardwood with anti-splitting
devices as necessary. Cross ties on horizontal curves that are more than 3 degrees shall
be 6" x 8" x 9’ treated hardwood with anti-splitting devices as necessary. All ties shall be
treated by the reuping process with net retention of 8 lbs. per cubic foot of mixture of
50% creosote and 50% petroleum or 7 lbs. 70% creosote and 30% tar solution. Switch
ties shall be new, 7" x 9" treated hardwood with anti-splitting devices.
Under the section entitled BALLAST SUPPLY AND PLACEMENT, the following sentence shall
be added:

The attached APPENDIX A- ‘Specification for Ballast’ shall form part of this specification
and apply to the supply and placement of rail ballast.
Under the section entitled GRANULAR SUB-BALLAST, the % Passing by Weight for Granular
B, Type II for Sieve Designation 0.075 mm of 0-8 is deleted and replaced with 0-10%.
The following sentence shall be included under the section entitled TIE PLATES:
All Tie Plates shall be of the double-shoulder variety.
ITEM E2 – SUPPLY AND INSTALL #9 TURNOUTS
The following paragraph shall be included under the section entitled GENERAL
REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS:
The #9 Turnouts shall include Non-Insulated, Hand Throw Split Switches. Frogs shall be Self-
Guarded, solid manganese steel. Switches shall be constructed with 100 lb. CP-RE Rail and 16’-6”
Switch Points. The attached APPENDIX B- ‘Drawing T-14-66-41’ shall form part of this
specification and apply to the supply and construction of #9 Turnouts.
ITEM F1 – DEWATERING, DRAIN CONTROL AND EROSION CONTROL MEASURES (name
revision)
The second paragraph is deleted and replaced with the following:
The work of this item shall include a complete Dewatering Plan, detailing proposed procedures for dewatering, maintaining flow downstream through the construction work area, erosion protection, including all required materials and equipment shall be submitted as part of the tender package. The plan shall be subject to the approval of the Landscape Architect and the local Conservation Authority and shall include sufficient detail to clearly outline the proposed method for culvert installation including dewatering, as well as any alternative methods, contingency plans, etc. The Contractor shall note that due to the time of year, significant flows are to be expected at least infrequently. The Contractor shall also note that the chosen method of culvert construction must include the isolation of the in-water work areas while maintaining the flow of water downstream at all times. A fish removal must be undertaken within the isolated work area prior to dewatering to maintain dry working conditions.
ITEMS F4 TO F14 – PLANTING
The specification title shall be renamed ITEMS F4 to F14 & F21 to F22 - PLANTING

item. The inclusion of ‘SP’ shall refer the Contractor to the appropriate item specific specification
listed in Book I, Division #4, Special Provision 4.36. Three digit numbers (ex. 510, 206, etc.) shall
refer the Contractor to the corresponding Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS)
