FFinding a boyfriend was the last thing on Haley Borders' mind

when she was dragged to her first college party. That is until she

backed into Andy Brown. “Even though I acted disinterested the

first time we backed into each other, Andy kept running into me

that night,” Haley remembers. Despite Haley's game of hard to

get, Andy tracked down her number and called the girl to which

he had been immediately attracted.

Although a romantic relationship did not begin immediately,

the two quickly became best friends. “It was so nice to have some-

one to hang out with; he was always such a gentleman” Haley

says. Andy finally won Haley over when she returned from a trip

to find pink roses and a card proposing a little more than friend-

ship. Four years of dating would follow before Andy was ready to

make a more serious proposal.

He had planned to ask Haley to marry him on a cruise to cel-

ebrate graduation, but on the night of their actual graduation

while surrounded by family and friends Andy spontaneously

decided that he would not give the ring a chance to burn a hole

through his pocket. “I thought he was just making a toast, so I

was speechless for the first time in my life when he got down on

one knee and asked me to marry him,” Haley remembers.

When Andy and Haley started planning their September wed-

ding, they chose Victoria Belle Mansion in Hogansville for the

ceremony and reception. “It was the perfect location because they took

care of everything from the catering to hair and makeup,” Haley says.

“They didn't put any time constraints on us. We were able to arrive

early and spend time with our families before the wedding.”

Surrounded by bright fall colors of red and orange, the cou-

ple was married in traditional, Southern style on the front porch of

the mansion. Haley wore a diamond white, strapless, satin gown by

Christina Woo with intricate beadwork around the waist and carried

a bouquet that was a blast of color with flowers of red, coral, peach and

pink. Her bridesmaids’ deep red dresses elegantly added color to the

ceremony while the groomsmen looked classy in their pinstriped char-

coal gray tuxes with black vests and ties. Andy's silver vest and tie set

him apart from the other gentlemen.

Covered with white satin linens swaged with crystal brooches, the

reception table centerpieces consisted of single confetti roses in four-

foot tall crystal clear vases with candle votives reflecting in beveled

mirrors. The lanterns hanging from the trees with red ribbon added

charm to the reception where guests enjoyed their choice of chicken

marsala or roast beef au jus. A brooch nestled in fresh, red roses

topped the wedding cake, which was placed under a sheer canopy and

crystal chandelier.

“Everything was smooth and easy, we were really able to relax and

enjoy our wedding,” Andy says. A highlight for both bride and groom

was dancing with family and friends to the sounds of Urban Jam,

Andy's Uncle's band. In addition to a special and meaningful wedding

day, Andy and Haley share a special and meaningful relationship. “We

know that marriage is about more than butterflies, it has to be based

on friendship and committment,” Haley says.

Keeping true to Southern style, Haley and Andy left Victoria Belle

Mansion in a horse drawn carriage. They honeymooned at the Sandals

Resort in Negril, Jamaica.
