INTRODUCTION

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

The series of Moog alternators, direct drive or multiplier, is designed to meet the application requirements of manufacturers of small size wind and hydraulic turbines.

These synchronous generators with rare-earth high polarity permanent magnets, are characterized by a higher yield and a reduced weight compared to the more traditional solution of the asynchronous motor.

Moog has also realized a frameless version, suitable to be integrated directly in the customer's own mechanics.

Thanks to the know-how of the Moog engineers and the high flexibility of the system, manufacturers can find the best solution to meet the needs of their plant and of the environment in which it operates.

INTRODUCTION

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

• Rated output up to 100 kW

• Rated speed up to 6000 rpm

• High performance rare-earth magnets

• Outer shell made of aluminum or steel suitable for all weather conditions

• Upon specific request a special coating can beprovided when operating in a corrosiveenvironment

• Stator pack consisting of a low loss magnetic sheet

• Three-phase star winding, insulation class F

• Insulation system suitable for operation with inverters

• Output voltage between 350 - 400 Vac; option of optimizing the voltage level for all application needs

• Thermal protection: PTC at 155 °C, NTC or KTY

• Protection grade IP64 - IEC 60034-1

• Turbine-alternator coupling interface standard or to be agreed with customer

• Torque ripple <1% of rated torque

• Type of construction B5; on request B3

The ratings shown are referred to the following conditions:

• Environmental temperature: -25 ° + 40 ° C (for higher temperatures a performance "derating" can be expected)

• Altitude not exceeding 1000 m from sea level (for higheraltitudes a performance "derating" can be expected)

• Power output at the alternator terminals with P.F. = 1

• Alternator reached by a flow of air at about 8 - 10 m/sec

The alternators can be supplied with a direct system of forced ventilation that increases performance significantly.

The GES 043, depending on speed and on installation conditions, can be provided with 16 or 32 poles.

Moog will provide the power - rpm - performance characteristics for the selected alternator.
