CBF National Missions Emphasis

We are collecting contributions for National Missions, with a goal of $4,000. To date, we have collected $1,416. UBC is again designating our offering to the work of Paula Settle, CBF Associate in Nada, Kentucky. This area is one of our nation’s 20 “pockets of poverty” identified by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship over a decade ago.

Paula’s major project for this summer is to help one couple in Owsley County. The man is about 73 years old and has a 33-year-old mentally challenged lady living with him.

The house is falling down, so they are living in a one-room shed that has no running water, no bathroom, and only one outlet that works. They have no refrigerator.

UBC Bylaws &

Leadership Manual

Church Council has considered ways that UBC might become more inclusive and broaden its base of candidates who will be eligible to serve on committees, teams, councils, etc. Council also con-sidered how we might allow candidates who have demonstrated their Christian maturity, skills, willingness, potential, abilities and commitment to UBC to be nominated to positions of leadership. Finally, Council has considered a change which will allow Associate Members to vote on various church matters. These proposed changes will be dis-cussed at the Church Conference on Wednesday, May 25. These programs will be the same, so please plan to attend the one that works best for you. They will be different from and build on the initial conversation we had on May 11, but are meant to be for everyone, whether you were able to join us on that Wednesday or not.

During these conversations, we will take time to pray together, talk about the prom-ising days ahead for UBC, and discern what God is telling us about who we are becoming as a congregation and who our next Senior Minister should be.

If possible, please RSVP to the church office to indicate which event you plan to attend or if you can't make either time. You can, of course, still attend even if you do not RSVP. Childcare will be provided for both times.
