• Login to Office 365 and locate OneDrive

• Create and rename documents

• Open and edit stored files

• Upload existing files to your library

• Share and stop sharing files

• Follow files shared with you

• Sync and stop syncing your library to your computer

What is OneDrive?

OneDrive (previously SkyDrive) is a cloud based service developed by

Microsoft, used primarily for storing and sharing documents for both personal

and business purposes

+ No downloads- runs from web browser

+ Included in your Office365 account

+ Easily accessible- anywhere with internet

connection, any device; web app access

+ Cloud-based- all content stored online with

sync option (No “crashing”!)

+ Allows for collaboration- file sharing,

coauthoring

+ Living documents- up to the minute changes,

versioning

+ Storage capacity- 1TB per user at The Citadel

How do I create documents in OneDrive?

Select Office format

Opens in online Office application

Automatically saved to your OneDrive

How do I rename my files in OneDrive?

Click current file name

Type new file name- autosaved

How do I open and edit files in OneDrive?

From document

• Clicking allows you to view

• Choose EDIT DOCUMENT

• Select editing option- off/online

From OneDrive

• Click ellipsis to open menu

• Choose EDIT to edit in Microsoft Office application OR

• Choose 2nd ellipsis and EDIT IN BROWSER to edit online

How do I upload files to OneDrive?

• Browse for and select file(s) to upload

• Confirm with OK

Drag and drop from file explorer

• Select file(s) and drag into OneDrive

How do I share files on OneDrive?

Click ellipsis to open menu

Choose SHARE

Enter name(s)/email address(es)

Set viewing/editing permissions

In OneDrive, clicking the icon under “Sharing”

will also open the SHARE DOCUMENT window

Users will receive an email with a link to the document you have shared.

OneDrive also allows you to stop sharing files at any time

Open the SHARE DOCUMENT window (2 ways)

Choose “Shared With” from navigation menu

Click next to a user to access drop down menu

Select “Stop Sharing”

Following files on OneDrive

Allows for quick access to important files that have been shared with you

From an email select “Follow”

From OneDrive select ellipsis to open menu

• Choose FOLLOW

How can I sync files from OneDrive to

my computer?

• Sync now

• Choose SkyDrive Pro application

• Sync now

Choose “change” to

select a different

location to save your

synced files

Select “Show my files…” to

view where your documents

have synced to

Green check marks

mean your files have

synced successfully!

Drag and drop files while syncing

Drag files saved to your computer into your synced folder to automatically

sync to OneDrive

How do I stop syncing my OneDrive files?

Locate the OneDrive icon in the task bar

Choose STOP SYNCING A FOLDER

You will also have the option to PAUSE SYNCING
