Your vehicle’s Driver InformationCenter (DIC), located in the instrumentpanel cluster, can display trip information, personalization features,and vehicle warnings and messages. It can be viewed in three languages. The odometer is automatically displayed when the engine is started. SSccrroollll tthhrroouugghh DDIICC MMooddeessPress and release the reset stem located next to the DIC display on theinstrument panel cluster.TTrriipp OOddoommeetteerrPress and release the reset stem untilTRIP is displayed. The trip odometerdisplays the current distance traveledsince the last reset. RReesseett tthhee ttrriipp ooddoommeetteerr:: Press andhold the reset stem until the displayshows zero.EEnnggiinnee OOiill LLiiffee SSyysstteemmThe system calculates the percentage of engine oil life remaining before anoil and oil filter change is needed. (Thisservice should be performed within 600 miles [965 km] of the CHANGEOIL message being displayed.) RReesseett tthhee eennggiinnee ooiill lliiffee ssyysstteemm::1. With the engine off, turn the key to On.

3. Once the alternating OIL LIFE andRESET messages appear, press andhold the reset stem until severalbeeps sound.

4. Turn the key to Off.

PPrrooggrraamm tthhee AAuuttoommaattiicc DDoooorr LLoocckkssTo program the door locks to operatein one of three modes:1. With the engine off, turn the key toLock. Do not remove the key.

2. Press and hold the power door lockbutton for approximately three seconds until the DIC displays thecurrent door lock mode.

3. To view each next available mode,press, hold for approximately twoseconds, and then release the reset stem.

4. Once the preferred mode is displayed, briefly press the resetstem to set your choice. The DIC display will then clear.

PPrrooggrraamm tthhee RReemmoottee KKeeyylleessss EEnnttrryyFFeeeeddbbaacckkTo program the Remote Keyless Entry(RKE) feedback to one of four modes:1. With the engine off, turn the key toLock. Do not remove the key.

2. Press and hold both the lock andunlock buttons on the RKE

NNoottee:: The Oil Life System must be resetafter each oil change to help ensure theproper maintenance of your vehicle.The Oil Life System does not replace the need to follow the maintenanceschedule in the Owner Manual. Forservice information, see Section 5 ofyour Owner Manual.

4. Press and hold the reset stem until the next language appears.

5. Repeat Step 4 until the desired language is displayed. The languagedisplayed will be set.

6. Briefly press and release the reset stem to exit the language selection.

WWaarrnniinnggss aanndd MMeessssaaggeessWarnings and messages are displayedon the DIC to notify the driver that thestatus of the vehicle has changed andthat some action may be needed by the driver.Each message must be acknowledged.To acknowledge and clear a messagefrom the DIC, press and release thereset stem.If your Check Engine light, or any other warning message appears, youcan push the blue OnStar button andspeak to a live advisor. OnStarAdvisors can access certain diagnostic information and can tell you how

The content theft-deterrent system isarmed when all of the doors are closedand have been locked with the RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.AAllaarrmm SSyysstteemmIf a locked door is not opened using theRKE transmitter or by OnStar, the hornwill chirp for 10 seconds and then thealarm will go off. The alarm will flashthe front turn signal lamps and soundthe horn for two minutes. To preventthe alarm from going off, unlock thedoors using the RKE transmitter. Toturn off the alarm, press the Unlockbutton on the RKE transmitter or startthe engine using the correct key.The content theft-deterrent system willnot activate if the doors are lockedwith a key, the manual door lock or thepower door lock switch.PPaasssslloocckk®®Your H3/H3T also is equipped with the Passlock® theft-deterrent system thatrequires the correct key be used tostart the engine. If the correct key isnot used or the ignition lock cylinder is tampered with, the fuel system is disabled and the engine will not start.SSeeee tthhee FFeeaattuurreess aanndd CCoonnttrroollss sseeccttiioonn ooff yyoouurrOOwwnneerr MMaannuuaall..

Your vehicle is equipped with aPassenger Sensing System located inthe front passenger seat for the frontpassenger frontal airbag, and a passenger airbag status indicator located on the instrument panel center stack.

NNoottee::We recommend that children notbe placed in the front passenger seat,even with the Passenger SensingSystem. Rear shoulder belt comfort guides mayprovide added safety belt comfort forsmaller adults and for older childrenwho have outgrown booster seats.When installed on a shoulder belt, thecomfort guide better positions the beltaway from the neck and head. Onecomfort guide is provided for each outboard rear seat position.IInnssttaalllliinngg aa CCoommffoorrtt GGuuiiddee::1. Remove the guide from its storageclip on the trim panel.

2. Place the guide over the belt andinsert the two edges of the belt intothe slots of the guide. Be sure thatthe belt is not twisted and that itlies flat. The elastic cord must beunder the belt and the guide on top.

3. Buckle, position and release the safety belt as described in yourOwner Manual. Make sure the beltcrosses the passenger’s shoulder.

Your vehicle is equipped with reardoor security locks that prevent therear doors from being opened frominside the vehicle. These locks arelocated on the inside edge of each rear door. To set or cancel the securitylocks, open the rear door, insert yourkey into the slot and turn. ((FFlloooorr)):: This mode directs most of the air to the floor outlets and some air to the side window outlets and windshield.

((FFlloooorr//DDeeffoogg)):: This mode directsair to the windshield, side windowoutlets and floor outlets.

((DDeeffrroosstt))::This mode directs mostof the air to the windshield and someair to the side window outlets.

((RReeaarr WWiinnddooww DDeeffooggggeerr)):: Pressthe airflow control knob to turn therear window defogger on or off. Thedefogger will shut off automaticallyafter about 15 minutes.SSeeee tthhee IInnssttrruummeenntt PPaanneell sseeccttiioonn ooff yyoouurr OOwwnneerr MMaannuuaall..

TTeemmppeerraattuurree CCoonnttrroollTurn the temperature control knob (A) to raise or lower the temperature setting.

((AAiirr CCoonnddiittiioonniinngg)):: Press the temperature control knob to turn the air conditioning system on or off. Theindicator light will flash three times and the air conditioning system willnot function if the fan is turned off.

FFaann SSppeeeeddTurn the fan speed control knob (B) toany of the four settings to increase ordecrease fan speed.((OOffff)):: This position turns off

the system.((RReecciirrccuullaattiioonn)):: Press the fan

speed control knob to turn the recirculation mode on or off. Thismode will recirculate inside airthroughout the passenger compartment and keep outside airfrom coming in. Recirculation is notavailable while in the floor,floor/defog or defrost mode. Undercertain conditions, the recirculationmode may be activated automatically.AAiirrffllooww MMooddeessTurn the airflow control knob (C) toone of the following modes to changethe direction of the airflow:

The 60/40 split bench seats can be folded to provide additional cargo space. FFoollddiinngg tthhee SSeeaattbbaacckkss ((HH33))::1. Pull the bottom of the seat cushionup, then forward.

2. Lift the latch on top of the seatbackand pull the seatback forward. Foldthe seatback down.

2. Lift the front of the seat cushion up and rearward until it latches into position.

3. Pull on the seatback and push onthe seat cushion to ensure that theyare secured in place.

FFoollddiinngg tthhee SSeeaattbbaacckkss ((HH33TT))::1. Disconnect the rear center safetybelt latch from the mini-buckle byinserting the tip of the safety belttongue into the slot on the buckle.

2. Pull the loop on the outboard side of the seatback until you hear a click.

3. Fold the seatback forward slightlyand remove the headrest.

4. Store the headrest on the back paneland fold the seatback forward.

Your vehicle contains a cargo management system located in thebed of the truck. The system containsthree rails located on the front andsides of the bed.The system has four adjustable cargotie-downs that can be placed on theupper and lower slides of the rail. Toadjust a tie-down, pull the locator pin out and move the tie-down toanother location making sure thelocator pin lines up with a locator hole on the rail. The tie-down pin may not be installed correctly if thepin does not line up; turn it over andreinstall. StabiliTrak is an advanced computer-controlled vehicle stability enhancement system that assists with directional control of the vehicleduring sudden maneuvers or low traction situations in poor weather. Itis normal to hear the system working,and the system will automatically disengage cruise control when activated. StabiliTrak comes on automatically when the vehicle isstarted and does not require any driver input. You should always leave StabiliTrak onto assist with directional control ofyour vehicle. However, if you need toturn off StabiliTrak, press and hold thebutton on the instrument panel for

The Tire and LoadingInformation label shows the correctinflation pressure for the tires whenthey’re cold. “Cold” means your vehicle has been sitting for at leastthree hours or driven no more thanone mile.You can temporarily clear the DIC message by acknowledging it with your DIC controls. However, at thenext vehicle start-up, the DIC messagewill reappear if the tire pressure hasnot been corrected.During cooler conditions, the low tirepressure warning light may appearwhen the vehicle is first started andthen turn off as you start to drive the vehicle. This could be an early indicator that your tire pressures aregetting low and need to be inflated tothe proper pressure.

• Unsecured cargo on the load floor can be tossed about when driving over rough terrain.

• Heavy loads on the roof raise the vehicle’s center of gravity, making it more likely to roll over.

When shifting into or out of Four-Wheel-Low Lock, the vehicle must be stopped or moving less than 3 mph (5 km/h) with the transmissionin Neutral.

FFrroonntt aanndd RReeaarr LLoocckkiinngg AAxxlleess ((iiff eeqquuiippppeedd))The locking front and rear axle features can be used to give the vehicle additional traction when traveling in off-road situations such asmud, snow, sand, steep hills anduneven terrain. To lock front and rearaxles, place the transfer case in 4LOLock mode. Before the front axle canbe locked, the rear axle must be locked.

Locking axles will be disengaged whenthe wheel speed is greater than 40mph (64 km/h), if the vehicle’s batteryis low and/or the transfer case is shifted out of 4LO Lock mode.
