In 2010, GIB adopted a new strategy, Enjaz 2015, which entails the transformation of the Bank into a pan-GCC universal bank based on four main pillars: corporate banking, investment banking, asset management and retail banking. I am very happy to inform you that we have launched our new Retail Banking business.

GIB was established in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1975 and is licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain as a conventional wholesale bank. It is owned by the six GCC governments, with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia holding a majority stake (97.2 per cent). GIB has branches in London, New York, Riyadh, Dhahran, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi and representative offices in Beirut and Dubai, in addition to its main subsidiaries, London-based Gulf International Bank (UK) Limited, and Riyadh-based GIB Capital LLC.

The GIB Young Professionals Development Program offers competitive and unique development opportunities and consists of two years of development focused job rotation and learning. This is a blended approach of classroom, online, theoretical, on-the-job training, off-site learning, continuous professional development, coaching, mentoring performance monitoring and assessment.

On completion of the program, the Young Professionals are assigned to their roles with defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

GIB’s Social Committee organizes various events across the year with the aim of engaging with staff and their family members. This provides them with an opportunity to meet in a casual environment, socialize, build strong ties with people across different work functions and encourages camaraderie and collaboration.

These events are wide ranging, from celebrating occasions, like National Day, Eid, etc., to special events, like ‘Think Pink’, ‘Blood Donations Camps’, ‘Bahrain Marathon Relay’ as well as fun events like, ‘Family Day’, ‘Ramadan Ghabga and Kids Day at Work. I joined GIB during a very important phase in March 2011 soon after the new strategy was introduced. During this exciting time, I have contributed directly to the realization of the Bank’s strategic initiatives by seeking and hiring the right talent across different functions and levels. At GIB we take all job seekers through a structured recruitment process. The following steps will give you a good idea of what to expect.

Step 1 – Application:GIB accepts applications submitted through our career site. The entire application process should take no longer than few minutes and typically involves the following stages:• Entering basic personal information.• Building or uploading your CV.

Step 2 – Screening:Your application will be assessed by our recruitment department and if you successfully match the job requirements, your application will then be forwarded to the relevant line manager for further review.

Step 3 – Shortlisting:If your application is shortlisted, your profile and details will be reviewed by the line manager. The line manager and the recruitment team will review your CV against the technical skills and specific experience for the role and select the candidates who will be contacted for interview.

Step 4 – Assessment Center:If shortlisted, you will then be invited to an Assessment Center or a Selection Day depending on the role for which you are applying. These selection events can consist of psychometric testing, English language testing, presentations, trial exercises and group activities, all measured against the requirements for the role.

Step 5 – Interviews:Our recruitment team will contact successful applicants to arrange an initial interview. Depending on the candidate's location, it will be either:• Face-to-face interview.• Telephone or Skype interview.

The initial interview will examine the competencies and skills required for the role you have applied for. We will also discuss your reasons for choosing GIB and where applicable, your readiness to relocate to a new country. A face-to-face interview will follow the telephone or Skype interview.

Prior to meeting us, you will receive plenty of additional information about the Bank and the role and you will have every chance to ask questions throughout the recruitment process.

Step 6 – Offer:If you are successful at this stage, you will receive a formal offer of employment. On your written acceptance of the role, we start to co-ordinate the on boarding process with you.

Please note that upon receipt of an offer from GIB, you will be required to provide the following:• Employment References.• Medical Reports.• Education Certificates.• Other documentation as required by local labor law.
