"When I hear someone like the Gibson Brothers, I know it's them from the first note. They have that little thing
in their voices that no one else has ..."
-Del McCoury, Washington Post! The International Bluegrass Music Association recently
named the Gibson Brothers “Entertainer of the Year” for the second straight year. The group has received many
other accolades, such as having one of their songs, ”They Called It Music,” reach No. 1 on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart on April 12 and May 17.
!Bluegrass for the Next Generation
The Gibson Brothers concert is a fundraiser for Bluegrass for the Next
Generation — an effort to promote the genre at the college and in the
community, through classes, scholarships, concerts, jam sessions and a
show on SUNY Plattsburgh’s WARP radio station.
! The Bluegrass for the Next Generation scholarship is now here.
Applicants must enroll in and pass MUS119 (Introduction to Bluegrass
Music) and take lessons on a bluegrass instrument — banjo, mandolin,
string bass, fiddle, Dobro or guitar. Enroll now in MUS119 for spring
2014 to be considered. No prerequisite or music experience needed. Let
your study of bluegrass earn you scholarship money.
For more information on the scholarship, contact Faith Long at
518-564-3615.
