Gilbert “Gib” D. Riebersal, 81, of Woodburn, Indiana passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, Florida.

Gib was born in Woodburn on January 16, 1938, a son of the late Hilda (Woebbeking) and Henry Riebersal.

Growing up on his parents’ grain and poultry farm, Gib developed strong work ethics and Christian family values. He graduated from Woodburn High School in 1956. After high school, he began work at the Fiedler Farm Store, followed by Lampe Builders, both of which fostered skills that furthered his mechanical knowledge and hobby of woodworking. On September 1, 1962 Gib married Arlene L. Gerig in Woodburn, where they would eventually live, love, Worship and raise their family. He was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church.

In 1965, he received his B.S. in Business from Indiana University, Bloomington. Gib went on to be an accountant in the manufacturing industry. After 28 years, he retired as General Manager from Philips Electronics in Auburn, IN. Upon retirement, Gib returned to his roots of farming for 10 years. For the last 15 years, Gib and Arlene have been snowbirds with a residence in Florida.

Gib enjoyed social activities such as: golfing, playing cards with friends, and spending quality time with his entire family. He built a cabin on his farm for his grandchildren to enjoy. Autumn was his favorite season of the year because of the harvest. One of Gib’s favorite getaways was to Brown County, IN, reminiscent of his college years. As a true Hoosier, he loved Indiana Basketball.

Gib will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Arlene (Gerig); children, Craig (Sarah) Riebersal, Cammie (Rob) Gillis & Marcy (Craig) Phillips; twin brother, Hilbert (Beverly) Riebersal and grandchildren, Jake & Zach Gillis and Cale, Dane & Marlee Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Marlin.

His funeral service is 11 am, with viewing one hour prior on Saturday, Nov. 30th at Christ Lutheran Church, 4412 Park St, Woodburn, IN 46797.

Viewing is also Friday, Nov. 29th, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Christ Lutheran Church.

He will be laid to rest at Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
