T he time has come for Gilliland Bros. Charolais to step out on our own. Wewelcome you to our First Annual Bull Sale. For the last couple years our

customers and friends have encouraged us to make this move, and we believethis is the group of calves to start it off.We believe this breed is all about performance, and we have spared no expensein purchasing the herd sires that will deliver the quality of calves our customersexpect. Please note that all our recorded weights are actual and not adjustedwith the exception of those not yet a year old. The auction marts don’t useadjusted weights, so we try not to.Our weaning and 205 day weights were affected by the soggy spring the S.Ecorner endured this year, the grass became water-logged and under poweredwith lots under water until late summer. The bulls were weaned and given theirbooster shots in early September. They were fed the same 14% BeefBackgrounder ration pellet that we have used for the last three years, alongwith free choice brome hay.We stand behind our bulls 100%. Our desire is for you to be happy with yourpurchases. We welcome all calls and encourage visitors to scout out the pens

We were really impressed with Dateline when we saw him in Bert’s bull pen inthe spring of 2008. We purchased him at the Highway sale later that month, andits been no looking back! He continued to impress us after we used him thatfirst spring, so we got him ready for the shows in the fall where he had successin the show ring. We used him on the heifers the first year, and we were soimpressed we used him on every female we could the following year. We nowhave many daughters in the herd, and have tested numerous homozygoussons. We lost him last winter, but have semen in the tank.

We are very happy with thisfirst crop of calves as they blend right in with our bull pen and the daughtersare looking good as well. His BW EPD has dropped after his first year of servicewhich is no surprise as we just haven’t had to help the heifers. He has strongpolled genetics so we tested 2 sons and they were both homozygous polled.
