Started organising LINK on line contestsstudent awards, and Counsellor awards being
managed by LINKIn the 5 year period of LINK 2 students won Larry K
Wilson Award (Prijoe, and Nithin Sha), one outstanding Counsellor Award (Nisha Kuruvilla) and also MGA innovation award (2008) was shared by Gopakumar, Prijoe and Mini Thomas
LINK EvolutionCEC bagged Centre of Execellence award and
Kerala Section won the best large section Award of R10 in 2005, Rajagiri won the consolation prize in R10 website contest
LINK today has 43 branches and more than 2600 Student members – exponential rise from 11 branches and 600 students in 2003

Five Year initiative to integrate all the SBs in Region 10
Based on the successful prototype of IEEE Kerala Section –LINK R10
The Initiative was formally launched at Region 10 Student Congress held at Chennai, India in January 2008

institutions– Held Section Student Congress (Karachi) in July 2008,
Pakistan Student Congress, August 2008– Conducted more IEEE, GINI awareness sessions

GINI Activities in New Zealand 1/2Leadership workshop, jointly conducted University of Auckland and nearby AUT IEEE SB in May 2008
– Attendance of 25 from each university– AUT was able to obtain enough signatures to officially apply
to open a SB, a feat almost 5 years in the making

How to Start GINI in your sectionStep 1
Select one student GINI representative from each SBStep 2
Have a meeting of all GINI reps and SB counsellorsSelect section GINI committee office bearers
SAC to be the president of GINI committee One counsellor may be selected as VP Student reps to be secretary, treasurer, web master,etc
Step 3 If no. of SBs are more than 10 or 20 and
geographically distributed Hubs can be formed consisting of 5 to 10 SBs per hub
Hub teams may consist of Hub leader (counsellor) and hub drivers to support (1 to 3)
Step 4GINI committee may also include hub leaders/ hub
driversDiscuss issues facing the SBsIdentify active/ vibrant SBs as mentor SBs and
allocate one inactive SB to be mentored by active SB
Step 5Conduct periodic on line meeting – at least once per
month with GINI repsPeriodicity of GINI EC can be more frequent
Step 6Have face to face meeting once in 3 or 6 monthsHave GINI organise section student congress/ hub
level congressShare ideas, benefit from learning from each other
and collective thinking to resolve issues
Step 7Keep track of reporting deadlines and ensure
