GIOVE-A SIGNAL
GIOVE-A SIS is fully representative of GALILEO SIS:
RF and ModulationsChip RatesData Rate
GIOVE-A can only transmit two signals at a time(L1+E5 or L1+E6)
GIOVE-A codes are different from GALILEO codes
GIOVE-A Navigation Message not representativefrom structure and contents viewpoint(demonstration only purpose)

First Mission Campaign
ObjectivesTo carry out a preliminary characterisation of the O/Bclocks
Available Infrastructure2 GESS: at ESTEC (Noordwijk) and INRIM (Torino)GIOVE Processing Centre at ESTEC
Time LineStarting from 15 th May: GESS Signal quality assessmentduring first weekStarting from 22 nd May: Processing of Orbits and Clocksfor 6 to 8 weeks

Expected Performance in First Campaign
According to analysis based on using aGlonass s/c as a mock-up for GIOVE, theavailable infrastructure (2 stations inEurope) would allow to determine
Orbits with a precision of 200 cmClocks with a precision of 4 ns
This performance can be drasticallyimproved by using SLR* data which wouldprovide
Orbits with a precision of 20 cmClocks with a precision of 0.4 ns
Due to clock data gaps (2 stations inEurope), Allan deviation will present gapsat some intervals. However the RAFSbehaviour can be fully characterized:
Short term results are fullyrepresentativeLong term stability can be assed fromthe data.

Contribution from/to GNSS Community
GIOVE Mission has adopted IGS Standards:SINEX, SP3, RINEX clockRINEX 3.00
Galileo has cooperated in the creation of RINEX 3.0 observable fileGIOVE mission will help validate
Galileo RINEX Navigation to be confirmed after SIS ICD publication
