God’s Word
Tuesday Morning Bible Study at 10:00 a.m.
This group has been using the magazine “Good News”, which is published by Concordia Mission
Society. The editor is the former LHM speaker Wallace Schultz.
There are several editions available in the pastor’s study/office for
anyone who would like to review a topic or use one for a personal
Bible study.
Wednesday morning Ladies Bible Study at 10:30 a.m.
started a 6 week study titled, “Unglued: Making Wise Choices in the
Midst of Raw Emotions.” This study began on Sept 19.
If evenings are better, join us at the Cottage Meetings the last
Friday of the month at 7 p.m. hosted at a members home.
September is being hosted by
Joe and Carolyn Benkovsky
In the
Sunday Morning Bible study, has completed Ecclesiastes and is moving to look into the Song of
Solomon. Join us for this portion of
the Old Testament.
We hope to see all of you at one or
more of these Bible Studies.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our 1st Ice-Cream Social a success. Thanks to those who came, invited friends, helped with adver-tising, donated supplies, helped with set up and clean up. The Board of Education was very grateful for you all! I think every-one that came enjoyed the “social” AND the ice-cream!
Save the Date for our Children’s Christmas program this year. It will be Sunday, December 16th. Would you be willing to direct our program this year? If you like kids and are a little dramatic, now is
your chance! (Even if you are not dramatic and don’t like kids we’ll be willing to give you a try!!) Directing just means helping with choosing our program and working with the kids during Sunday school starting in Mid-November so it’s just a month long commitment and you will be totally done before Christ-mas! If you are a short term commitment type, this is the job for you! Please prayerfully consider this need for our Church.
The next Christian Ed. Meeting is 7pm October 15th

Pastor’s Page descriptions this one has a num-ber of loopholes. It is not a law based definition but instead it is based on the principles of the Gospel, God’s love and blessings given to us.
By virtue of creation and then recreation through Holy Baptism we each belong to the Lord and He makes us His stew-ards for the many blessings He gives to us. The Lord is the source of all stewardship and this includes all areas of our life as a Christian.
We have each been en-trusted with life and life’s re-sources and we have been given the responsibility to manage them for Him. Notice that each of us has been blessed in specifi-cally different ways. It begins with different parents and in-cludes different siblings. You are unique because you are the oldest, the youngest or some-where in the middle but you are a single child or the brother or sister of one certain group of people.
There are other unique opportunities that come to us in the form of congregational min-istry, music programs, and financial goals. For each congre-gation regardless of denomina-tion these challenges may be similar but never the same. This is one of the reasons that on occasion people will transfer their membership from one congregation to another with less debt or less aggressive out-reach or a less active steward-ship ministry.
The most common adjust-ment to stewardship seems to be not to keep up with the giving of blessings from God but to use the blessings to take up the slack where other management decisions have caused a deficit in resources. Life style is
STEWARDSHIP
Pastor Snider
The first point I would like to make for anyone who has dared to read past my name is that STEWARDSHIP is not a four-letter word. It has nearly a dozen letters, which if you think more is better you might con-sider this to be a very important word. You would be correct but it has nothing to do with the number of letters it contains.
STEWARDSHIP does have a bad reputation as a word but it’s not its fault. In many congrega-tions the month of October has been designated a time of Chris-tian STEWARDSHIP renewal, edu-cation and often commitment. This tradition has been difficult to maintain, in part because of the high pressure some congre-gations have applied to its mem-bers. There are I’m sure other reasons why STEWARDSHIP brings bad memories for some and that may include members of Trinity.
Being a good steward is not an easy job. It is one of those hard to define tasks that takes into consideration some very pri-vate and personal situations in a steward’s life. Our first defen-sive action against STEWARDSHIP is to take advantage of that pri-vacy in our life and justify ignor-ing the topic completely.
A stewardship definition commonly used throughout The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is this: “Christian stew-ardship is the free and joyous activity of the child of God and God’s family, the church, in managing all of life and life’s resources for God’s purposes. Like so many definitions or
something that consumes many of the blessings we receive from God and as it does either the ad-justment is made in the time and resources to the church or they are simply held at the level that has been used in the past. Static stewardship in a dynami-cally charging world leaves the church and the congregation wondering just how long it might survive.
The impact comes in light of a changing world and how the Christian family teaches stew-ardship to the children and the youth. That however is the sec-ond step because the attitude of service done for the benefit of the church and community comes from knowing that our stewardship flows out of God’s act of love for each of us. It then empowers us to show our love to God, His church and his people.
What stewards decide to do or leave undone has eternal con-sequences. When we consider it our responsibility we pursue good planning for the present and the future and we rejoice in knowing that what we do has lasting benefits. Christian stew-ards extend God’s kingdom to other people and to their own spiritual growth here and now as well as making the church available for people in the fu-ture.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow abundantly into your life.
