A Message from GFSA President John Paul Tallent ‘62

How exciting to be celebrating the 50th class reunion with the GHS Class of 1965! We are all looking forward to this

big one-day event and hope you can join us! This year marks our 21st All-School Reunion celebration in our building.

I hope to see a large group of former students from the honored class of ’65, as well as from all other classes. Each

year’s reunion holds special memories for the classmates of the year being honored. But, this all school event is also a

great time for other classes to get together to renew old friendships. If your class is marking the 10th year since your

graduation, or the 20th, 30th, 40th, or any other memorable anniversary year, please notify your classmates and fill a

table (or two or more) on Saturday, September 26th. What better time to have a class reunion! The building will be

decorated, meals will be served, and there will be entertainment and visiting.

Some of you have already made plans for a pull out get-together just for your classmates on Friday night. If so, enjoy

your evening, and then join the entire group for the festivities on Saturday.

On behalf of the GFSA Board of Directors, I look forward to seeing all of you on September 26th!

NOTE FROM THE CLASS OF ’65: We are excited to be the official host of the 2015 ALL-SCHOOL REUNION and hope

that you will make plans to join us at our celebration! Yes, it is about our class, the 50th Reunion Class of 1965, but the

day is also about friends of all ages connected through the love of Gladewater & the spirit of our Alma Mater, GHS!

This year, two former students, Mr. C.W. Williams, Jr., Class of 1938 and Mr. Joe Lansdale, Class of 1970, will be

honored at the Forever Orange & Black Luncheon by the Gladewater Former Students’ Association as 2015

Outstanding Alumni. Attend the luncheon to hear from these most deserving recipients of this prestigious award. The

event will kick off the day and be full of GHS Spirit. The evening dinner/dance will be a time to relax, have fun and

visit with former classmates (and maybe a few surprises)! We hope to see you on September 26th!

REMEMBER PHOTO BOOTHS? A SHOT IN THE DARK photo booth will be

available throughout the evening to make fun photo strips of you &

your friends! Have fun & enjoy this special treat from the Class of ’65.

CLASS PULL-OUT GATHERINGS: For our new members not familiar with class pull-outs, these are gatherings planned for a class at a time that would not conflict with the All-School Reunion events. In the past, most class pull-out gatherings were luncheons on the Saturday of reunion weekend. However, due to the change of the All-School Reunion events to only one day, Saturday, several classes have planned class pull-out gatherings for Friday night. If your class is planning such a gathering, call the GFSA building and let us know so that we can inform those who might contact us. At the time of this newsletter mail-out, the following classes had notified the GFSA about their class gathering:

CLASS OF ’55 will not have a pull-out but will be celebrating their 60th at the All-School Reunion & look forward to seeing friends & classmates! CLASS OF ’61 will gather at Clarksville City Hall, Saturday, Sept. 26 from 2-4 pm. Bring no food. Colas furnished, etc. Contact Sherry Waggoner Beall with questions. CLASS OF ‘62 will have a get-together at the home of Beverly and John Paul Tallent on Friday night, Sept. 25, at 6 pm. This will be at 200 Allison St. (in town, NOT at the lake house). CLASS OF ’65 will have a get-together at the lake home of Jackie and Wes Ray on Friday night, Sept. 25 at 6:00 pm. The address is 1911 E. Lake Dr. on Lake Gladewater. CLASS OF ’68 will have a get-together. Check with Shirley, Steve or Tina for exact time/location. CLASS OF ’75, celebrating their 40th, will have a table or two at the All-School Reunion events.
