Beige and biscuit tones dominated on theS/S 10 catwalks most notably at Chloeand are set to filter down into our ward-
robes. To avoid looking like a character from theJilly Cooper novel Riders keep it simple and
chic. Kate Bosworth works it perfectly in heroversized blazer and matching shorts andmaxi skirt teamed with a pale grey top. Highstreet store Zara have a great selection ofpieces to choose from. If youre afraidof looking a bit washed out go fornude toned shoes - guaran-teed leg lengtheners.

Bold tribal printsare here to stay. And are more
versatile than they firstappear. More daring
fashionistas should gofor striking patterneddresses, t-shirts andleggings. While, those ofus who would rather givea passing nod to the trendcan do so by incorportingstatement jewellery andaccessories into ourfashion arsenal.
The precarious wooden blocksare in the spotlight this season- thanks to Chanel and a
certain Ms. Chung. They lookgreat worn with cut offs a laAshley Olsen and areavailable in a variety
of style. Our favouritesare the Miu Miu cat printones so darn cute!

How did you come up with the ideafor Monochrome magazine and what
made you want to put together your
own magazine?
I created Monochrome to have a selectionof special features on a range of subjectsthrough imagery and interviews, to bothinspire and explain to readers.
Your blog JustJR is a staple of the
blogroll of many fashionistas. How
did you come up with the concept
for it. And what do you think sets itapart from other fashion blogs?
The initial concept was to have a blogwith images I found cool or inspiring, but this developed into collages andspecial projects. I think its differentto a lot of blogs because there islittle text and less of an opinion.
Can you tell us a bit about your
background and how you got
into the fashion industry?
My family is from London but I was raisedin Paris before moving back to GreatBritain. I became friends with people whowork in (or are connected with) the industrywhich has helped give me a few contacts.
Whats the process of putting togetheran issue of Monochrome magazine.
For the first issue Im working on for thissummer, Ill be interviewing a few peoplefor features then working on getting a feweditorials done, so a lot of emails, phonecalls and pulling clothes.
Why have you chosen to make
Monochrome an online magazine?
I would like to expand to print but I thinkbeing online, its easier to send a message to
the readers, and its interesting to have yourconcept available for anyone to discover.
What are your favourite blogs
and magazines?
I love print! So there is a long listof favourite magazines, but themain ones would be:Selfservice / GQ US / Purple FashionMagazine / Hercules / Fantastic Man /Numero / Vogue Hommes / Man AboutTown / Apartamento / Interview / Details
/ AD / The Journal / Electric Youth (EY!)/ Monocle / The Last Magazine / ArenaHomme + / LOfficiel Hommes / V /VMAN (and many more)...as for blogs, I like to check around butthe ones I visit most frequently include:NYT The Moment, JJJJound, COACD,Colette.fr Blogs, Selfservice Blog, ValetMag, US GQ Blogs, Chanel News,MagCulture >>

fashion shows and I was turned awayat the door until I called someoneinside I knew to come and save me;people never think Im the editor. Itsalso hard not to have such a majorsocial life like I used to. As you canprobably imagine, its extremelydifficult to balance work and school, not to mention a thriving social life, butI make time for it.
What do all your friends make of the
fact that youre a magazine editor?
Honestly, I dont think many of themreally care. I do not go to an art schooland its not such a major deal to thestudents that I run a fashion magazine. Ido have friends from other schools thatthink my job is absolutely amazingthough. Whether people appreciate or
hate my work Im still going to make it,so whether my friends love or loathe itI couldnt care less.
Do you find it difficult to give
direction to other creatives you work
with due to the age gap?
Not at all! In the beginning it wasdefinitely a struggle trying to tellpeople I (hopefully) wasnt going to failbut I think I have proved that with time.
Most of us struggle to hold down one
job not to mention two how do you fit
in Prim around your school work?
I am asked this question in every
I know youve probably been asked
this about a million times but what
inspired you at just 14 years old to
start your own magazine - where do
you think you got the drive to do it?
I have always been driven byaesthetics; I was the kid that wasshunned by the rest of the grade forbeing weird. I never really mindedit though because I knew somethingwould come of it someday; I wasalways determined. I began my firststyle blog in the seventh grade and itwas really nothing special. I got boredof writing and taking photos alone sodecided to begin my own publication;sure it was a major jump but I decidedto take a risk.
Whats been the best thing about
working on Prim?Definitely attending all the events(Fashion Week is clearly a favorite),being shot at various photo shoots, and answering interviews like these. Itsalways fun to do something differenteach day. I also love booking peoplewho personally inspire me for prim. Iusually handle the booking for eachissue.
Whats been the worst thing about
working on Prim?
I think its just been tough trying toconvince people I really am the editor. So many times I have showed up for
interview and I never know how toanswer; I guess I need to seriouslystart thinking about it. I definitely donot set time apart each day to solelywork on prim. I guess I assess what Ineed to accomplish and tailor my dayto fit those needs.
How is the magazine funded?
The magazine is funded by my familyand me. Of course, the cost is diffusedwhen we sell print copies and obtainadvertisers.
Do you see yourself running Prim
as a full time business once you get
older?
I do somewhat see that. It woulddefinitely be hard to leave it since Ihave edited it from the very beginning.
What I would leave it for has to be ajob that is just to die for, and even thenIm not sure I would go.
Do you think if the internet didnt
exist you would still have been able
to start up your own magazine and
have it be as successful as it is or
do you think it would be impossible
without the net and everything it
offers?
Definitely not! I would not be ableto contact people easily, get asmuch press as I do, and getessential information as easily.

Music Video Director / Designer / PartyPromoter Va$htie aka "Downtown Sweet-heart" reminds us of the cool girl at school
who was often imitated but never outshone. This NewYork City "it" girl has had an enviable career thatincludes directing music videos for Solange and KidCudi, starting up clothing label Violette which mixesher tomboy flair with high fashion sensibilities to
create something truly unique and hosting a weekly90s themed party that attracts both hip hop heavy-weights and well heeled fashionistas such as MaryKate Olsen, Cassie, Diddy, Mos Def and more. But ca-reer success aside, we love the fact that she's some-one who clearly loves what she does and imbues herwork with her inimitable charisma.
Vashtie Glossy salutes you!

When did you first realise you
had a talent for drawing ?
It was my Mother who first noticed Ihad a talent for drawing. She alwaystells this story. I was about 3 years oldand my mother was running a bathfor me. I was drawing on my bed andwhen she told me it was bath time, Ijust carried on drawing anyway so Ithink that made her a little cross withme. Time went by and eventually shecame over to me, threw down my penciland told me to get in the bath then shedecided to actually take a look at whatI had drawn and was very shocked at
how professional my drawings were atsuch a young age. She then showed myfather and my sister and so basicallysince I picked up a pencil all thoseyears ago, I havent been able to put it
Linda Evangelista & Natasha Poly Christy Turlington & Rosie Huntington Whiteley
down since. My family and friends havebeen very encouraging all the way, soits cool to have such a great supportsystem behind me. They know I'm superpassionate about what I do!Are you currently working as
a full time illustrator ?
In my mind, Im a full time illustratorbut I also see myself as a fashiondesigner because Im always comingup with new designs through illustrationand once I have done a collection ofrunway models wearing my designs,I put them in a little portfolio. Its like
Im a real life designer and so much fun!I give myself schedules and deadlinesfor finishing my collections like a realdesigner would. I guess it's a greatpreparation for what I want to do!
Where do you find your inspiration ?
Well, when I was younger I wasobsessed with Disney movies and Iused to draw all the female charactersso I guess that was my inspiration backthen. I literally used to watch a Disneymovie, pause it when my favouritefemale character was on screen anddraw her over and over again. I usedto pause the video so much, my Fatherused to get so mad at me haha. I wasalso obsessed with Jessica Rabbitfrom Who Framed Roger Rabbitand used to draw her all the time. Thefemale form and silhouette has always
been so intriguing to me! Now that Ima teenager, the cartoon style drawingsI did as a child have progressed intoprofessional fashion illustrations andI have perfected drawing females.
