ongratulations on the formal installation’s of club teams. Time flies, a month has

gone by and we have just eleven months to reach our goals. Take action and use

this golden opportunity to leave a high mark in fellowship and service to the Ccommunity.

There have been heartening reports of clubs taking up projects with enthusiasm and some

even report a project a day. A number of clubs have held ‘Blood Donation Camps’, other

are requested to hold them now.

Membership is the life line of rotary, new members bring new life, new ideas and greater

enthusiasm. Keep the ‘quantity with quality’ motto in mind when inducting members.

Return a favour, each rotarian should be encouraged to propose a new member this year

in honor of the person who proposed them as a member of this great organisation.

September is the ‘New Generations’ month, make sure the existing ‘Rotaract and Interact’

clubs are active and vibrant, involve them in your club programs and projects. Explore

possibility of starting new rotaract and interact clubs where possible.

An innovative program to increase ‘Awareness’ about Rotary in the community is

proposed by involving schools and thru them members of the community by highlighting

rotary’s involvement in the first against Polio. This will also help raise funds for the ‘End

Polio Now’ Bill & Melinda Gates Challenge Grant.

We are fortunate that Chief Trustee of the Rotary Foundation and PRIP Carl Wilhelm

Stenhammar & his gracious wife Monica will be with us for an ‘Intercity’ at Chandigarh on

Saturday 28th August 2010. Lead by example, contribute and energise your members to

support the TRF, our life line for projects & programs. Congratulations to all rotarians of

our District in supporting IPDG Chetan in achieveing a record $3,33,291 last year, your

target is $400,000. We can, and we will achieve it. I have confidence in our Rotary family.

I hope you have informed AG and the zone committee chairs of your nominees on the

committees and shared your goals to move ahead with an action plan. This is designed to

increase involvement of members in all activities; the key to ‘Bigger Better Bolder’ clubs as

we walk forward 'Building Communities – Bridging Continents’.

NEW APPOINTMENTS

he month of July has been a special one for me in many ways. Being addressed as ‘First Lady of Tthe District’, whenever I went made me wonder

how this phrase came about. But as I visited a few clubs and saw how the ‘First Lady of the club’ conducted herself–in-her strong yet silent way, the gentle push, the dual feeling of anxiety and enthusiasm, left me in awe and admiration for them. Kudos to them for their tremendous support to their spouses- the meaning & depth of the phrase creeped in by itself …

As Mother Teresa said ‘Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier’ – let us spread the message of love & happiness from our home, through our children. By involving them in some projects, by making them aware of their being the blessed ones, by making small contributions through them on their special days- by making them join the Interact & Rotaract Clubs – they surely will feel enriched to be able to give something back to the needy ones.

Till we meet next …
