    Principal Functions

    Under the direct supervision of the Head of Research Department and overall

    direction of the Director, the Fellow shall undertake the following duties;a) Initiate, plan, implement and follow-up research activities exclusively in thearea of IPR Laws, Policies and Practices in collaboration with national and

    international stakeholders including but not limited to IPR agencies,

    corporate houses, government departments, Public Sector Undertakings, etc.;

    b) Carry out doctoral or post-doctoral research, supervision of PhD research tocontribute to capacity building among Law of the Sea and Maritime Laws

    stakeholders of India

    c) Conduct optional, credit, seminar teaching courses for students andpractitioners IPR Laws, Policies and Practices;

    d) Plan and conduct training and extension activities such as workshops,seminars, round-table conferences;

    e) Provide input to legislature, executive and judiciary on the latest trends anddevelopments in IPR Laws, Policies and Practices on a regular and upon

    request basis;

    f) Assist in IPR Laws, Policies and Practices including legal advise on legalsuits/ arbitration matters and other dispute resolution issues;

    g) Generate resources to assist various clients research, drafting, training, etc. inIPR Laws matters;

    h) Provide guidance to students, including preparation for placement andinternship in IPR Laws, Policies and Practices;

    i) Act as a GNLU Contact Person on IPR Laws, Policies and Practices

    Qualification, Experience and Skills requirement:

    a) Master in Law, preferably with specialization in IPRor fields closely associated with IPR Laws, Policies

    and Practices;

    b) Research experience and publications in peerreviewed journals and research reports desired;

    c) Good knowledge of latest national andinternational research trends and developments IPR

    Laws, Policies and Practices field;

    d) Abilities to organize international trainingworkshops and brainstorming online/ on-site

    discussions;

    e) Fluency in English language.The Selection Committee will have prerogative to give

    preference to a candidate having:

    f) Direct experience in the area of duties and/org) Experience in working with international and

    national IPR agencies, law firms, corporate houses

    and relevant governmental agencies / departments;

    and/or

    h) International exposure and outlook to IPR Laws,Policies and Practices

    knowledge and research base of GNLU;

    j) Mobilise financial and human resources to carry out the above programs andactivities;

    k) Ensure that GNLU achieves Knowledge and Research Excellence world-wide in IPR Laws, Policies and Practices;

    l) Report on an annual and periodic basis to the GUJCOST and GNLU onprograms and activities, indicators of achievement, results obtained under the

    Visiting Assistant Professorship / Senior Residential Fellowship;

    m) Performs any other duties as required by the GNLU.

    Monthly Fixed Pay / Fellowship, entitlements and

    benefits:The Visiting Assistant Professor / Senior

    Residential Fellow shall be considered for all legal,

    administrative and practical purposes a non-employee

    of the GNLU.

    a) A monthly fixed pay or fellowship of 50,000 Rs orequal amount in appropriate foreign currency or

    any other amount decided by the Selection

    Committee, depending upon the qualification,

    experience and skills.b) The Visiting Assistant Professorship / Senior

    Residential Fellowship is initially for one year and

    may be extended annually for a period of one year

    at a time, up to the maximum of three years, upon

    satisfactory performance of the Fellow and needs

    and interests determined by the GUJCOST and the

    GNLU, with probation of three months in the first

    year Visiting Assistant Professorship / Senior

    Residential Fellowship. The Visiting Assistant

    Professor / Senior Residential Fellow shall have no

    right for a continuous period of three years. The

    duration shall be decided by the Selection

    Committee.

    c) The Visiting Assistant Professor / SeniorResidential Fellow can avail one day casual leave

    per month and sick leave as per the circumstances.

    For administrative purposes, the leave and

    administrative records shall be maintained by the

    Office of the Registrar.

    d) A return economic class airfare between the homeplace and Ahmedabad will be provided upon

    joining and separation, during the entire duration of

    stay, subject to at least one-full year performance ofduties. The Visiting Assistant Professor / Senior

    Residential Fellow will have office space and library

    access like any other teaching staff of the GNLU.

    e) A subsidized boarding and lodging at the GNLUmay be provided.

    f) The Visiting Assistant Professor / SeniorResidential Fellow shall be responsible for all other

    expenses concerning his/ her stay at the GNLU,

    such as medical insurance, visa fee, etc..

    g) Depending upon the availability of resources,circumstances and needs of the University and the

    GUJCOST, the Selection Committee may

    recommend or adjust terms and conditions of

    entitlements and benefits in context of attaining the

    aims and objectives of the Fellowship.

    h) The Visiting Assistant Professor / SeniorResidential Fellow shall have no claim over

    duration of appointment or any other benefits or

    entitlements, if another Fellow who is appointed

    under another scheme enjoys higher or lower level

    of fellowship, benefits and entitlements.
