MONTH ONE • WEEK 1 NOTORIOUS NOTES

Music notes have special names. They are not names like PeeWee or Princess. They are alphabet letter names. It’s easy! There are only seven letters in the musical alphabet— A, B, C, D, E, F, and G!

When you sing or play a musical instrument, you are making melody with notes. Notes are little pieces of music. When they are all arranged together, they make a song. Help PeeWee and Princess write the note names on the spaces below. ________ ________ ________ ________ ________ ________ ________

MONTH ONE • WEEK 2 ALL HANDS ON DECK!

Some musical notes represent high notes and some represent low notes. Each note has a letter name.

Music notes are sometimes short and sometimes long. Sing the words to Jesus Loves Me following the long and short ship boards like we find on the Jolly Roger.

Je- sus loves me. This I know.

For the Bi- ble tells me so.

Lit- tle ones to Him be- long.

They are weak, but He is strong.

Yes, Je- sus loves me.

Yes, Je- sus loves me.

Yes, Je- sus loves me.

The Bi- ble tells me so.

MONTH ONE • WEEK 2RELYING ON GOD’S STRENGTH

I get strength from God when I:

Live the “__ __ __ of the __ __ __ __.” (Proverbs 10:29)

Gather __ n __ __ __ __ __ ge from His Word. (Proverbs 24:5)

T __ __ __ __ in Him. (Psalm 28:7)

Directions: Do you find yourself relying on your own strength instead of God’s? Our strength is not capable of enduring. We need God’s strength. Where can you go to get God’s strength when you need it? Complete this page to discover where to get strength from God.

MONTH ONE • WEEK 3ALBERTA’S STAFF

Each line and space on the staff has a letter name of its own.

From the bottom to the top, the lines are E, G, B, D, and F. You can remember them as Every Good Boy Does Fine.

The names of the spaces from the bottom of the staff to the top are: F, A, C, E. All of the treble clef spaces (from the bot-tom to the top of the staff) spell FACE.

Alberta needs your help to decode the lines and spaces of her TREBLE CLEF STAFF. See the note names and how they are arranged on lines and spaces of the music staff below.

Draw lines matching the words on the left below to the correct correspond-ing lines or spaces on the right. One is completed for you.

Directions: Our God is always available to protect and provide for us. Our song reminds us that we never need to fear, since our God is bigger than any problem or enemy. Read the clues of Bible people who experienced the protection of God. Then find and circle each name in the puzzle below.

1. God protected this man and his family during a world-wide flood. Noah

2. Even when he was thrown in a den of lions, God was with him. Daniel

3. She risked her life and stood before the king requesting that he protect her people from being destroyed. Esther

4. God was with this rebellious man and provided a large fish to spare his life and get him back to Ninevah. Jonah

5. As a baby, he was spared to do a job leading the Jews out of Egypt. Moses

6. She left her homeland and went with her mother-in-law to a place and a people she did not know. Ruth

7. Although he was a slave and a pris-oner, God raised him up and placed him second in command in Egypt.

8. He fought a lion, a bear, and a giant because he knew God was with him.

9. In spite of beatings and imprison-ment, this man faithfully continued spreading the gospel, knowing that God had a plan for him. Paul

PAPA’S PIZZA PIE

A note tells us two things: how high or low a sound is and how long the sound lasts. You know how high or low a note will sound by where it is on the staff. Black notes are short and white notes are long. But there’s more—you need to be very exact about note values and how long a note is sung. In the examples below, a whole note = four counts, a half note = two counts, and a quarter note = one count.

The longest note in most music is a whole note. The chart shows how a whole note—and Papa Luigi’s pizza pie can be divided into smaller pieces of equal size. Color each pizza portion a different color.

Note values are measured in counts or beats. When Papa Luigi taps his foot along with a song, he is tapping musical counts or beats. Fill in the blank below each pizza to indicate the total counts in a time signature.
