SAC and GOLD: Why GOLD needs SAC
• Members from SB feed into Section after graduating, and they fit directly into GOLD!
• Students provide the opportunity for GOLD to outreach
• The new Graduate Student Member fits into both SAC and GOLD concerns; we have a common audience to address, a common set of volunteers!
IEEE Canada 2006 GOLD Congress, Toronto ON
SAC and GOLD: Why SAC needs GOLD
• Immediate mentorship and guidance; we've just been through it!
• GOLD members have industry and company ties that are useful to SBs
• Joint events can lend some weight to Student-planned activities
• Again, the GSM

Anniversary) • IEEE.Tv *
• Local Activities – complement the activities delivered through virtual means by
RAB GOLD Committee – provide face-to-face opportunities – organize activities that meet unique local needs
IEEE Canada 2006 GOLD Congress, Toronto ON
IEEE Mentoring Program
• Provide mentoring opportunities within the IEEE community:– mentoring relationship is not dependent on change of job.
• Web-based program. • Conducted a pilot program in 2005; involving Region 1,2,3. • Invite higher-grade members up to age 55 as mentors• Invite higher-grade members up to age 40 and GOLD
members as mentees• Informal style of mentoring where mentee self-selects
mentor by searching for potential candidates • Article in print June 2006 The Institute• Complete communications for launch, which should be in
