Guests start by having their choice of meat prepared on the grill in front of them. From there, they can see the addition of rice or noodles to their bowl as the base layer. Add in fresh vegetables and one of their special sauces and it won’t be a meal soon forgotten. With five signature sauces ranging from Tokyo Teriyaki, a sizzling pineapple teriyaki sauce, to Shanghai Lemon Grass, a refreshing lemongrass with coconut infusion, there will be something for everyone.

In the early 1970’s, a group of Gonzaga Italian Club students encouraged local pizza maker Pete Barranco to make calzones like they had eaten while studying abroad in Italy. Using his grandmother’s calzone recipe, Pete opened Pete’s Pizza, “The Calzone King,” in 1972 at the very same location it is today on Sharp. Serving up their famous calzones, pizzas, and salads, Pete’s Pizza uses only quality products with homemade dough and marinara sauce made fresh every morning. Pete’s Pizza wants guests to leave full and feeling satisfied, offering huge calzones and fully-loaded pizzas. Find the menu, daily specials, and the “Calzone of the Month” at www.petesspokane.com.

tacks at Steam Plant offers guests the opportunity to dine within a historic Spokane landmark. Originally, the Steam Plant was constructed to produce steam heat and electrical power for downtown Spokane, and was in operation until 1986. The restaurant features 80-foot ceilings, old boiler pipes and catwalks, a view to the pub down below, and the opportunity to walk into a 225-foot smokestack! Stacks has a distinctive approach to dining, working with local farmers to create dishes that celebrate the region. Stacks even showcases its own nationally-acclaimed, hand-crafted beers. Serving up traditional pub fare and Northwest American cuisine, the food is complementary to the space the restaurant exists in with flavors as unique as the venue. Menu items are made from scratch, and many of the meats are smoked on-site. Entrée options include steak, seafood, pasta, entrée salads, burgers, and poultry. House favorites include the Smokestack Chop, a 28-ounce bone-in rib-eye seasoned to perfection, and the Pub Style Fish & Chips, which is a generous portion of cod, dipped in tempura batter made from Stacks’s Highland Scottish Ale. From the food, to the beer, to the service and the atmosphere Stacks hopes guests leave in awe of their overall experience and are quick in their desire to return.
