Acquired by GB in 1982, today Beronia sells over 4 million bottles of wine, controls over 840 Hectares of vineyards and has a warehouse with capacity for 28,000 barrels, with an average age of 4 years.

Page 20: Gonzalez Byass

Bodegas Beronia- brief history

• In the 3rd Century BC the area now known as La Rioja was inhabited by the “berones”, from which the winery has taken its name

• Bodegas Beronia was founded by a gastronomic society in 1973 and bought by Gonzalez Byass in 1982

• Nowadays is one of the top 12 Rioja bodegas in the Spanish market, with an increase in sales of 10% in the last year

Page 21: Gonzalez Byass

•30 hectares of vineyards on site and a total of 840 hectares of vineyards controlled with long term contracts planted with Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo and Viura. •Most of these vineyards are located within 10km radius from the cellar, giving the wines a very distinctive Rioja Alta personality

Page 22: Gonzalez Byass

• 28.000 mixed oak barrels (French and American) with an average age of 4 years , the oldest being 8 years.

• Over 2.7 million bottles stored in Beronia’s cellar

Page 23: Gonzalez Byass

Bodegas Beronia Classic Range

Beronia elaborates two different ranges of wine: a classic line and a modern single variiety line:

• Beronia’s classic range includes a young white, a crianza, a reserva and a Gran reserva.

• This range can be described as “modern classic”: wines have more colour and aromas than what is known as “classic rioja” thanks in part to the use of new wood and to the use of mixed barrels

Page 24: Gonzalez Byass

Bodegas Beronia Single Variety Range

• To satisfy its innovative and creative vocation, Beronia also produces a modern line of wines, all single variety and unique in their style:

– White barrel fermented viura– Tempranillo Special production– 100% Mazuelo Reserva (the

only Rioja cellar with this product)

– 100% Graciano

• The range is completed by III aC, an Icon wine produced with grapes coming from old vines, with very concentrated flavours

The biggest project for Gonzalez Byass in recent years has been the construction of the Finca Constancia winery in Otero, Toledo. Focused on the production of still wines under the classification of Vinos de la Tierra and surrounded by over 200 hectares of vineyards, the wines are produced with both indigenous and international varieties in a modern, fruit driven style.

Page 32: Gonzalez Byass

Finca Constancia – brief history

• Aware of the importance of Spain’s new wave wines, Gonzalez Byass decided to invest in the area, buying 230 hectares in the town of Otero, Toledo, in Castilla.

With this investment, Gonzalez Byass proves that Spain can provide an excellent alternative to the New World: fruit-driven wines from Spanish and international varieties which offer consistent quality and excellent value for money.

• Gonzalez Byass bought the land in 2001 and the construction of the Bodega started in 2005, with the official inauguration in May 2006

• The estate is located in the town of Otero, 86 Km south-west from Madrid, between the Gredos mountains, the Toledo mountain range and the rivers Tajo and Alberche

Page 33: Gonzalez Byass

• The Estate has 230 hectares, of which 193,7 are planted with both indigenous and international varieties: Tempranillo (70H), Cabernet Sauvignon (37H) Graciano (7,7H), Shiraz (35,5H), Cabernet Franc (10H) and Petite Verdot (10H) for the reds and Verdejo (12,5H), Sauvignon Blanc (4,2H) and Chardonnay (3,8H) for the whites

• With total control of the production process, viticulture and vinification, Gonzalez Byass ensures the maximum quality for the wines.

Page 34: Gonzalez Byass

•The 70 different plots in which the vineyard is divided permits the wines to be

produced individually, allowing a perfect trazability of the wines

•100 Tanks all of them with automatic temperature control and 8 tanks specially

designed for the production of highly expressive wines with a special filling system that

avoids the pre-crushing of the grapes

• Capacity for 2.000 barrels

Page 35: Gonzalez Byass

Finca Constancia portfolioTwo completely separated lines of wines, differentiated from the vineyard:

• Altozano:

Young, fruity wines blended with a Tempranillo base, designed to be a high- rotation range with the best quality and a Spanish character. Possibility of both cork and screwcap closure.

• Finca Constancia: Blend of 6 varietals (mainly Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, with small percentages of Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Graciano) carefully selected in a wine that shows the complexity and personality of the terroir.

Page 36: Gonzalez Byass

In a region known for Sherry, Gonzalez Byass has pioneered with the production of red wines made from both indigenous and international varieties. Finca Moncloa shows the quality and diversity Gonzalez Byass are able to offer and reflects the growing potential of Spanish wines

Page 37: Gonzalez Byass

Finca Moncloa – Brief history

• The Gonzalez Byass vineyards management department started experimenting with red and white varieties in Andalucia in 1972, and it was in 1999 when the first vinifications took place

• Due to the excellent quality of these wines, and as part of the company’s significant investment in wine, Gonzalez Byass decided to invest in the Andalucia region, buying Finca Moncloa in 2000

• The site in Arcos was chosen for its variety of soil types and its high altitude, to obtain the greater variation between day and night temperatures needed for controlled maturation of the grapes

Page 38: Gonzalez Byass

• The 45 Hectare Estate is planted with both international and indigenous grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon (14 Has), Syrah (9,2 Has) Tempranillo (6,75 Has), Cabernet Franc (4,1 Has), Merlot(3,7 Has), Tintilla de Rota (3 Has), Petit Verdot (2,0 Has)

• The altitude, slopes of vineyard and year-long sunshine produces grapes with intense concentration and aroma and the tannins needed for ageing

Page 39: Gonzalez Byass

• Vinification takes place in the Gonzalez Byass winery in Jerez• The wine ages for 9 months in American or French oak barrels previous to

blending and then is aged for 1 year minimum in bottle. Miimun treatments are applied to the wine

BLECUA

Our icon wine is the result of a “triple selección” process:

1) Selection of vineyards: The seven best parcels from our vineyards were selected to be the source of the grapes from which Blecua is produced (14 has.)

2) Selection of bunches: in the vineyards (hand pick grapes) and in the cellar (triage table)

3) Selection of barrels: new Allier oak barrels from 4 different cooperages

SECASTILLA

On stony slopes between 700 and 800 metres above sea level, we have recovered very old Garnacha vineyards, the traditional variety from Secastilla Valley.

The altitude together with a special orientation of the vines ensures many hours of sunshine, which naturally favors the ripening of the fruit.

Since the moment we discovered this area, we have been working to recover old vineyards and planting new ones: Parraleta, Moristel, Cariñena, ...... total 40 has.

We currently produce Secastilla, La Miranda de Secastilla and La Miranda Blanca in this area.
