Improving Critical Thinking Skills: Have No Doubt! Figure It Out!
Dear Parents:
The second half of the school year has begun. Please take time to review grades with students and set goals for
passing all classes this school year. Please remind students to report to their classes on time and to remain in
class. Take time to talk to students about trying even when the work may be difficult. Students should not ask to
leave the room when the teacher begins to teach the lesson or instructs the students to begin working
independently. If your student is not passing a class, please contact the teacher and find out what supports you
can provide to help students improve. Grades are finalized at the end of the school year, so students have time to
catch up if they are struggling in any classes. Please be sure students are present, on time, in class, and
submitting completed, high quality work. We are here to do our very best to improve the lives of our students.
Their high school years are very important, and we want 100% of our students to graduate from high school.
Let’s work together to reach this goal. Thanks so much for your continued support.
Gradpoint Credit Recovery
Any student who needs a class on GradPoint to recover credit for a class previously failed should see Mrs. Singleton, our graduation coach.

Granby High’s Outstanding Team Members of the Week
From the World Language Department
Mrs. Erin Rawls: Good Morning, I'm Chris Dunbar and I am a vision para here at Granby. I work with Kamryn Tynes, a visually impaired student, and she has been one of Mrs. Rall's students for the past two years. From the beginning, we have requested class material days in advance so that we can prepare them for braille in order for Kamryn to access them. Mrs. Rall is always on top of this. She gives us class work, weeks, if not a month in advance. This is so helpful. She is also quick to correct errors--which is rare. Also, Mrs. Rall always asks Kamryn and her classmates how they are doing with their class work. Thank you, Chris Dunbar

From the Science Department
From the English Department
Ms. B. Donald: Ms. Brytnee Donald from the science department is nominated for the month of January 2020. Ms. Donald is a great person to work with. She contributes positively to the science department, takes initiative and provides helpful suggestions. She stays back with students and offers assistance to students who struggle with concepts. Ms. Donald's positive character makes her a great person to be around!
Ms. Meg Haynes:
English 9 can be a very challenging course to teach, but
Mrs. Haynes comes to class every day with a smile on
her face and a pleasant attitude. She loves her students,
and it shows in the care and attention that she puts into
her work. She approaches stressful situations with
kindness and understanding. Her students, the English
department, and Granby are lucky to have her.
