We were kindly hosted by the Goomalling CRC. The students engaged in team building and problem solving activities early in the day run by Mr Jones. Following this we looked at the personal traits of successful leaders, the students generated their own list initially and I was very impressed with the ideas they came up with. They identified their areas of strength and finally set some leadership goals for the year. I was so proud of the mature, engaged and fun approach our students took to the day. It is certainly an initiative I see continuing next year. That evening some very excited Year 6 students arrived at school for their annual sleep over. We designed our own pizzas for dinner and played lots of games. It was amazing fun including an interesting beauty session with the products sent along from the Goomalling Pharmacy! A huge thanks to Mr Jones and Miss O’Keeffe for giving up their Friday night for our kids. Congratulations From everyone in the school community we send congratulations and loving wishes to the Glatz family on the arrival of Natalia Lyla Glatz. Ty is a very proud big brother. Walk to School On Friday we will participate in Walk to School day. Details can be found on the permission note sent home last week. Staff and students will meet at Anstey Park to walk to school at 8.25am. We will run an additional breakfast club for students that day. NAPLAN We have now completed our first year of online NAPLAN. While the media reported wide-spread disruptions, I’m pleased to report that our students were able to sit the tests without any technical difficulties. Thanks to Mr Jones for working around the timetable to deliver many of the test sessions. Semester One Reports and Parent Meetings Semester One reports will come home to parents on the last Thursday of this term. While we will not be scheduling interviews for each family as we did last term, teachers are always happy to meet with parents to discuss student progress. We encourage the lines of communication to remain open at all times. School Development Day Our Term 2 School Development Day will be held in Wongan Hills on Friday 31st May. Please note, there is no school for students that day. Staff will be accessing professional learning on a range of subjects including emotional regulation, guided reading, trauma informed practice and first lego league. It is also a fantastic opportunity to network and share best practice ideas with other schools. PJ Day Next Wednesday is pyjama day at school. All students K-6 are welcome to come to school in their pyjamas and enjoy a lovely pancake breakfast on arrival. I’ve bought a fluffy new dressing gown just for the occasion!
