Welcome to another exciting edition of our newsletter. This special issue is dedicated to our Annual Sports Day. Sports are an integral part of holistic development of a child. It leads to balanced mental growth. The event was a resounding success. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the winners of all the events. I want to touch upon the fact, “Winning cannot become your habit unless defeats have torn you apart.” Hence, those who’ve not made it to the victory stand, I’m sure they are setting their track towards a new triumph. Standing at the culmination of yet another fruitful academic year, I’m sure we will soar further high with all our combined effort and co- operation. FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK GOPALAN NATIONAL SCHOOL SPORTS DAY 2018 - 19 The Annual Sports day for middle school and high school was celebrated on November 13 th at the Gopalan Sports ground at Avalahalli. As the first visitors of the day began to fill the seats and as the final preparations were undertaken, the ground buzzed with excited anticipation of the eagerly awaited events. It was a glorious morning, just fit for such a celebration. The chief guest of the day was Mr. Arvind Arumugam, a national basketball player. The honourable Chief Guest’s presence certainly inspired our young athletes to set their aims high and strive for excellence. The day’s events began with the march past by the students of classes 7 to 10. As the Captains proudly held aloft the House flags as the teams impressively marched along the rhythm of the band. Our School Captain JAI SURENDRA SAWANT, Sports Captain PRATYUSH and the House Captains took the athletes’ pledge on behalf of all participants promising to conduct the games in a spirit of fair-play and sportsmanship. The following players were honored: Vishal Kumar (best bowler in cricket), Yash(best batsman in cricket), Pratyush(best all rounder in cricket), Pranav Arun(best footballer), Itish Shukla(best footballer) and Harshita(best player in throwball. As the event progressed, an interesting diaspora was revealed. Competitive races were interlaced with unique and colourful displays by students of classes 5 to 10. All our winners displayed perseverance, resolve, a desire to win and above all, faith in their abilities. The ability to accept defeat on the field and yet believe in one’s capabilities is the greatest lesson to be learnt on the sports field.Contd.

GOPALAN NATIONAL SCHOOL

SPORTS DAY 2018 - 19

The Annual Sports day for middle school and high school was celebrated on November 13th

at

the Gopalan Sports ground at Avalahalli. As the first visitors of the day began to fill the seats

and as the final preparations were undertaken, the ground buzzed with excited anticipation of

the eagerly awaited events.

It was a glorious morning, just fit for such a celebration. The chief guest of the day was Mr.

There were multiple qualifying

events held before the finals on

November 13th. The events that

were held on the sports day

were the 100 meters race, 200

meters race, 4X100 meters relay

race and tug of war. The

participants displayed intense

competitive spirit and a strong

desire to win.

In addition to the competitive

events, there were other

displays and drills that

mesmerized the audience such

as, the saree drill by class 9 and

10, aerobics by class 6 and

thetaekwondo display by class 5

Each event was warmly

applauded by the crowd. The

occasion was made memorable

by the participation of the

parents in the parents’ race.

Overall, it was an excellent

display of sportsmanship,

determination and talent. At the

end of the event, the Yellow

house emerged as the winner

Primary Sports Day

The primary sports day was celebrated at

the school premises on 31st

October. The

sports meet was declared open after the

welcome speech by the coordinator.

The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the

event, were the splendid displays, involving

mass student participation by the primary

students, which splattered on the field, a

splash of hues. The emerging sports stars

displayed their talent in multiple events that

were held. The first competitive was Flat

race for class 1 students, followed by various

activity races.

The tiny tots of Gopalan National School

celebrated their sports day on 3rd September. An

array of interesting, yet challenging assignments

were carried out efficiently by the children of pre-

primary.

The children of nursery and preparatory also

performed their drills energetically and

confidently. The children eagerly started the

event with flat race followed by multiple activity

races.

The effort of the teachers was evident as the

show went on flawlessly.
