Welcome to another exciting edition
of our newsletter. This special issue
is dedicated to our Annual Sports
Day.
Sports are an integral part of holistic
development of a child. It leads to
balanced mental growth. The event
was a resounding success. I would
like to take this opportunity to
congratulate the winners of all the
events.
I want to touch upon the fact,
“Winning cannot become your habit
unless defeats have torn you apart.”
Hence, those who’ve not made it to
the victory stand, I’m sure they are
setting their track towards a new
triumph.
Standing at the culmination of yet
another fruitful academic year, I’m
sure we will soar further high with all
our combined effort and co-
operation.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
GOPALAN NATIONAL SCHOOL
SPORTS DAY 2018 - 19
The Annual Sports day for middle school and high school was celebrated on November 13th
at
the Gopalan Sports ground at Avalahalli. As the first visitors of the day began to fill the seats
and as the final preparations were undertaken, the ground buzzed with excited anticipation of
the eagerly awaited events.
It was a glorious morning, just fit for such a celebration. The chief guest of the day was Mr.
Arvind Arumugam, a national basketball player. The honourable Chief Guest’s presence certainly
inspired our young athletes to set their aims high and strive for excellence.
The day’s events began with the march past by the students of classes 7 to 10. As the Captains
proudly held aloft the House flags as the teams impressively marched along the rhythm of the
band. Our School Captain JAI SURENDRA SAWANT, Sports Captain PRATYUSH and the House
Captains took the athletes’ pledge on behalf of all participants promising to conduct the games
in a spirit of fair-play and sportsmanship.
The following players were honored: Vishal Kumar (best bowler in cricket), Yash(best batsman in
cricket), Pratyush(best all rounder in cricket), Pranav Arun(best footballer), Itish Shukla(best
footballer) and Harshita(best player in throwball. As the event progressed, an interesting
diaspora was revealed. Competitive races were interlaced with unique and colourful displays by
students of classes 5 to 10.
All our winners displayed perseverance, resolve, a desire to win and above all, faith in their
abilities. The ability to accept defeat on the field and yet believe in one’s capabilities is the
greatest lesson to be learnt on the sports field.Contd.
There were multiple qualifying
events held before the finals on
November 13th. The events that
were held on the sports day
were the 100 meters race, 200
meters race, 4X100 meters relay
race and tug of war. The
participants displayed intense
competitive spirit and a strong
desire to win.
In addition to the competitive
events, there were other
displays and drills that
mesmerized the audience such
as, the saree drill by class 9 and
10, aerobics by class 6 and
thetaekwondo display by class 5
Each event was warmly
applauded by the crowd. The
occasion was made memorable
by the participation of the
parents in the parents’ race.
