*****************************************Sitting under the largest tree on campus, Jin concentrated on his Ace

Attorney game while three pairs of eyes were on him. One pair of eyesbelonged to none other than the grey-blue-eyed beauty Victoria Hopkins. Theother two pairs of eyes belonged to her two close friends and group membersFrida Fernandez and Monika Sampson. None of them dared to approach the

geek and his video game.I dont want to be like rude, said Victoria in a fierce whisper to Frida

and Monika. The other two shrugged. At last, Victoria nodded firmly. Ill do itthen cause you two are like cowards.

Like oh my God, no, said Frida defensively.Hi, said Victoria, coming up to Jin and smiling in her charming manner.Jin paused his game and elevated his eyes. Hey Victoria?Oh wow, said Victoria, stunned. You totally remember me.

Yeah, I do, said Jin awkwardly. Weve met before. I think. I dontremember how we met but Im sure we did.

We totally did, said Victoria, gasping and laughing now. Like oh wow.

I totally remember you now. That day, I like totally embarrassed myself byspilling orange juice all over my blouse and you like saved my life with yourjacket.

Oh right, said Jin in realization. He put his game system away andsmiled. You should be more careful in the lunch line. A lot of the footballteam like to bump into other people on purpose for the fun of it.

But we cant like do anything about it either, said Victoria, sighing andplaying with her blonde hair. I mean like they have the Beast on their side.What can we do but like ignore it you know?

I know what you mean, said Jin with a nod. Hes been skipping schoolagain thankfully. Anyways, how is that blouse? Did you wash off the stain?

Mom did but yeah, it came off, thank God.

Thats good, said Jin, glad.

It was a really expensive blouse too so I thought my life was like overright there and then, said Victoria with a sigh. She went over and sat downnext to Jin, much to his surprise. He wriggled his nose at the scent of her fruityperfume. I still cant believe you save me like that since we dont even likeknow each other.

Its fine, said Jin, nodding again. I guess I should introduce myself.

Jin stood up. Victoria stayed seated through. My name is Jin-Kyong Song buteveryone calls me Jin. Nice to meet you all.

The names Victoria Hopkins, said Victoria, holding up her prettymanicured right hand. Jin shook it with smile. But my girls and baby call meVic. Vic is fine.

Jin, said Frida, still skeptical as she went over and hugged him quicklymuch to Jins surprise. My names Frida Fernandez from Mock Trial.

Hey Frida, said Jin, blinking in recognition of the girl. Oh. How isyour car?

My car? asked Frida, lost. Then, at the sight of Jins face, she gaped.Its you! Youre the dude that helped me start up my car that day a while ago.Hey, like oh my God, I totally remember you. How are you?

It was nothing and Im fine, said Jin shyly now. Thanks.

Oh my God, Vic, said Frida, sitting down next to her friend and shakingher arm slightly. He is like that guy that saved my Lexus. I had no idea hes

Jordans tennis buddy. Oh my God, is this a coincidence or what?Maybe, said Victoria with a pleasant smile.

Monika still did not approach or speak a word to Jin. She stood her ground andcontinued to stare at him with hard eyes. Jin felt a shiver down his spine sincehe could tell she didnt like him one bit. Even though Jin never talked to herpersonally, he knew he must have done something wrong for her to dislike himoff the bat.

Monika? asked Victoria worriedly.

This is fucking ridiculous, said Monika at last, turning to Victoria.Who the hell said that Jordan can pick whoever he wants to be in our group?Look at this boy. Do you think he belongs in our group?

No, but, said Victoria, frowning. Hes nice.

Wait Monika! cried Victoria after Monika, but the cheerleader alreadyleft in a hurry. Frowning, Victoria sat back down and started to cry. She likehates me now, Frida. What did I do wrong?

Oh darling, said Frida, comforting Victoria now. Its okay. Forget her.Shes always like that like oh my God, she just likes to cause drama you know?

Watching the crying Victoria against Frida, Jin slowly crouched down andlooked up at her. Her eyes were watery and red now. Even though Jin was bad

at comforting girls, he wanted to at least say something since he was the causeof all the mess so far. If he hadnt joined, they would still be at peace with oneanother.

Vic said Jin slowly.

Yes, sweetie pie? asked Victoria through a squeak.Your Jordan is a good person, said Jin with a soft smile. Hes helping

me out at a hard time right now. I have a friend you see and she means dearlyto me. Right now, she is stuck in a dire situation, but thanks to Jordan,everything will be easier for her. Even though I wont be by her side anymore,she will be able to become a strong and better person thanks to yourboyfriend. This is why I am so thankful to him and to your group. Thanks a lot

Vic.Blinking her tears away, Victoria stared at Jin curiously, Is your friend

like okay now? Is she like not in trouble anymore?

Everything is better now, said Jin with a firm nod.Im said Victoria, choking on tears again. Frida wrapped her arms

protectively around Victorias neck and placed the white girls head on hershoulder. Im so glad.

Jin blinked in surprise. Really?Victoria nodded softly. I like did a horrible thing to that one girl. Whats

her name again? Wendy? Jin couldnt believe his ears when he heard Wendysname. I cant like forget the guilt. I am like always feeling bad and I am like

always crying at the thought. I want to like say sorry but I cant and I dontknow what to do. Victoria glanced away with watery eyes. If I can like helpyour friend, I can feel at least a bit better with myself. I am like so stupid. Whyam I crying about this again?

was going to be tough to get along with you guys but its been really fun sofar.

kind.Yeah, like so kind, said Frida, gushing. Youre like the new Bailey,

seriously.Jin sat down as the two girls surrounded him. Thanks a lot! Anyways,

what do you guys do for fun?Frida and Victoria looked at each other. Chat?Oh, said Jin, scratching his head. Is that so?Like oh my God, Jin, said Frida, sitting closer to Jins left side and

touching his left arm. How do you like get your skin to be so smooth? Oh myGod, you have to tell me.

WellOh crazy, said Victoria, ruffling Jins hair. His hair is like so thick!

Why is like my hair so thin? Im like so envious Jin. How did you like get it likethat?

Having a hard time escaping between the two girls, Jin finally answeredall their questions and gasped for a breath of fresh air. In front of him, a fewfeet away, Jin saw the tall Korean male staring straight at him. Jin felt bad andexcused himself from the two beautiful girls to meet up with Bo.

Bo, said Jin, glancing away. Im sorry.

For the short notice? asked Bo pleasantly.For everything, said Jin, elaborating on his answer. Please take care

of Rin-chan from now on for me. Ill find a way to explain it to her later.I dont protect Hamada-sama because you ask me to Jin, said Bo with

annoyance in his voice but not on his face. He was still grinning like always.Not anymore anyways.

I see, said Jin, feeling awkward since the other two were staring at hisback.

I want to know something, said Bo in his serious tone. Jin gulped inanticipation. Are you planning on coming back or are sticking to them for therest of the year?

I dont know, said Jin in a tired voice. I havent thought that farahead

Suddenly, Bo grinned widely. Well talk after school, Jin. If you dont

come to the game room, Bo placed a strong hand on Jins shoulder. Ill makesure all the games I borrowed from you never ever return to your hands.

Jin paled after Bo as he turned around and went on his way. There wassomething serious in his tone that worried Jin to no end. Sighing, Jin went backto his spot and sat down. The other two girls of course started demandinganswers about what happened between him and the Korean football player.However, Jin stayed silent and sulked about the storm that was about tohappen thanks to a single decision on his part.

students are actually attending this meeting for the science team. Much to hersurprise, the classroom was packed with students or to be more precise,female students. Rin motioned for Roselle to walk in and sit down first. The

half Native American girl nodded firmly before she went in and stole a seatbefore another girl.Even though Rin wanted to leave, she caught sight of her captain

nervously fumbling through paperwork in order to prepare for his speech. Rinsmiled and shook her head, entering the classroom only to be dragged to theback of the room. The two culprits who stole her within sight was none otherthan the twins Robbie and Jojo.

Hey Rin, said Robbie with a sparkling smile.Hey Hamada, said Jojo, placing his arm across her shoulders.I must admit, said Rin pleasantly with a discreet smile. I wasnt

expecting you two to return this year.

Thats mean Rin, said Robbie, frowning now.What a horrible assumption, said Jojo, agreeing with his twin brother.You two joined last year on a whim, said Rin, scolding them both.

They dropped their heads in unison. Thats why my expectations from you twoare at the dead bottom. Still, Rin brightened her smile. Its great to see bothof you back.

It is nice to be accepted, said Robbie, faking tears.Were happy to see you back as well, Hamada, said Jojo happily with a

wink.Rin shook her head at them. Even though you guys are not the most

studious members on the team, you sure make our meetings a lot more lively.

Its never quiet with you two around.Compliment it is, said Robbie, beaming at his brother.We are loved indeed, said Jojo, leaning against the wall and nodding.Anyways, said Rin, leaning toward them both with her hands on her

hips. Why are there so many girls here? I was expecting a sparse number ofstudents to show up to our meeting. Its only been a week of school after all.

Never ever underestimate us, said Robbie, clicking his tongue.Never ever underestimate Park either, said Jojo, following suit.Thanks for the reminder, said Rin, scowling. What did you guys do?Basically, said Robbie, thinking. Sid is bothered that a lot of our

members graduated last year. Hes afraid that we wont have enough members

to make a team this year so he schemed since summer break to do whatever ittakes to recruit as many people as possible in a short period of time.

Park challenged us to a contest, said Jojo, twirling a pen in betweenhis fingers. Basically, its a recruiting contest. You can imagine howcompetitive both sides were. We went all out until after school last Friday.

Let me guess, said Rin, sitting down in an empty seat in the back andsmiling sweetly. Sidney won by a landslide?

Wrong, said Robbie, making a buzzing noise.

Park won by, said Jojo, laughing. A margin of five girls.Sidney still won though, said Rin, crossing her arms in front of her

chest. You cant deny that. A win is a win, no matter the number.Although that is correct, said a deep voice to the side. You have to

give it to the twins to have a close match against me. They are only

sophomores. Its quite impressive actually.The three turned their heads in unison to find a Korean boy with amuscular physique in a white jacket and light pink shirt combination with aloose tie around his neck. He had a pair of sunglasses on top of his slightlyspiked hair. A small, pale Korean girl in braids hid behind him and poked herhead out with a sweet smile. She wore a white shirt and pink skirt along with apair of white and pink sneakers that match her partner. Rin was reminded ofthe pair look that was so popular back in Japan.

Good afternoon, Sid, said Robbie, making a salute.Nice to see you there too, Lee, said Jojo, grinning at the girl behind

him.

Staring downwards, the girl in braids didnt look up as she spoke, Imsurprised that Robbie and Jojo did so well against Sidney. Did you aim at thesophomore population? Its always easiest to aim at your own grade.

Right on the spot, Sherry, said Robbie, snapping his fingers. We wereno match against Sids influence over the freshman girls though.

Though to be fair, said Jojo, tossing Sidney a bright smile. If he wereto aim at the sophomores and we to the freshman, the result would have beenthe same.

What has happened to the twins? asked Sidney with a short laugh.When did you guys become so humble?

Obviously, its because of the new school year, said Sherry, observing

the ground with her eyes. They havent fully become themselves yet. Givethem a week or two Sidney. Sherrys eyes stopped right below Rins desk. Apair of sparkling white sneakers with no trace of stain on its blue laces. It mustbe Rin Hamada.

Its hard to fool you, Sherry, said Rin, amused. Rin unconsciouslycrossed her legs under the desk. Im glad to see that the co-captain and youare back for another year on the team. Its nice to see the old gang backtogether.

I couldnt have said it better myself, said Sidney, throwing a thumbbackwards. And I see the real captain of the team is still as hardworking asalways. Recruiting is the least we can do, right boys?

Well said, Sid, said Robbie in agreement.For the team of course, Park, said Jojo, standing up straight and going

over to the Korean pair. You two look a bit restless though. Whats up?Oh nothing much, said Sherry, picking up her head and facing everyone

directly now. She was done with her shoe inspection. Sidney and I went hikingthis morning like always. I love this time of year. You never know what kind ofinserts will show up. Sherrys eyes were sparkling now. And the rocks!Geology is so great.

It must be nice, said Rin with a deep sigh. To go hiking so often and

enjoying the fresh air in the morning.You should join us sometime, said Sherry, tugging onto her braids.I cant, said Rin with an apologetic smile. I have Jazz Band.That just plain sucks, said Sidney with a shake of his head. Youre

missing out on some good hiking sites around here. But if we must, well takeyou out on a night hike on a free Friday or something. Night hikes are amazing.Youre not living if you dont hike at least once in your life after the sun sets.

Can we come? asked Robbie excitedly.We swear to be good, said Jojo, giving Sidney a puppy look.Once we have a whole team together, said Sidney pleasantly. We

should all hike together for a weekend or so. Itll be nice to study about what

were competing on in real life no?And a lot of the best hiking spots are just half an hour away, said

Sherry.It builds character, said Robbie in awe at the idea.It builds teamwork too, said Jojo, adding to his brothers words.Actually, said Rin nervously, groaning slightly. Im physically inept.

Ive never hiked before and I dont think Ill last an hour.Ill catch you if you fall, Rin, said Robbie, grinning.Ill wait for you if youre slow, Hamada, said Jojo, cocking his head to

the side cutely.Ill personally take you down the hike and give you a nice massage, Rin

Hamada, said Sidney, wrapping his arm around Sherrys neck.Not fair, Sid, said Robbie, frowning.Youre outshining us again, Park, said Jojo, sticking out his tongue.You have to come, Rin Hamada, said Sherry, frowning and clinging

onto Sidneys hips. Ive always want to share a room or tent with you and talkabout girl things. Wouldnt it be sweet?

Sherry giggled and poked Sidney in the ribs. Mr. White will never allowus to share the same room, Sidney.

Who said Mr. White needs to supervise us? asked Sidney, pumped upnow. We can arrange a trip by ourselves right?

I feel bad, said Rin, watching Arav standing in front of the newcomersand giving them a speech about what the team was about. Rin stood up. Iwant to help Arav with this meeting. You guys should continue planning the tripfor later.

Nonsense, Rin Hamada, said Sidney, forcing Rin to sit back down. Imthe co-captain and the one who recruited most of these girls from the very first

The minute Sidney went up to help Arav talk the twins surrounded Sherryand dragged her to a seat next to Rin. While Robbie stood in front of Sherry,Jojo stood in front of Rin. They both had the same pose- crossed arms in front

of their chests with a suspicious look on their faces.What happen to the no dating policy? asked Robbie, gazing straight atSherry.

Obviously, Lee is with Park and Hamada is with Shiratori, said Jojo,glancing from Sherry to Rin in questioning. Care to explain yourselves, ladies?

I have no idea there was a no dating rule, said Rin honestly.Sidney and I walk around that rule, said Sherry confidently.Rin widened her eyes and looked at Sherry. How?Think of it this way, Rin Hamada, said Sherry, sitting back in her chair

and playing with her braids. There is a rule because the team doesnt want amember to stray away from the activities of the science team right? However,

Sidney and I are both on the team so we argue that by having members on theteam dating, we are actually helping with activities. Instead of spending timedoing something else, well both be here to support the team by studying andbuilding things.

You didnt think of that yourself did you Sherry? asked Robbiesuspiciously.

I smell another one of Sidneys convincing arguments, said Jojo,whistling.

Sherry flushed. Yeah, youre right. Sidney thought of the whole thing.Sweet, said Robbie and Jojo in unison.I cant do that, said Rin with a sigh. She dropped her head on her

desk. I somehow manage to convince Kristian to join Jazz Band. That was aonce-in-a-lifetime moment. I can never convince him to join the science teamtoo.

The rumors are true then, said Sherry, shocked.Rin and Kristian? asked Robbie, thinking. Together?I was so sure that one was a lie and the Belle and Hamada rumor was

real, said Jojo, receiving a fierce glare from Rin.I like the idea of it actually, said Sidney, returning to the group. He

was carrying a stack of paperwork instead, courtesy of Arav. We only have twoJapanese in the whole school and they are together. It cant be any morefitting.

Where did you get that from? asked Rin, a bit curious.Its all across campus, said Sidney, dropping the stack of papers on the

horizontal table in the corner. According to Jordan, you two make a perfectcouple for that reason alone. It makes sense since Jordan said so.

I see, said Rin, thinking hard on this subject.Since Jordan accepted you two, said Sherry, clasping her fingers

together. The science team should too. I mean, its Jordan and if hes okaywith it, why cant the rest of us? Right?

If Jordan says so, said Robbie, shrugging. Its fine with me.Green keeps contradicting himself, said Jojo with a frown. On one

hand, hes popular and cool. On another hand, he says and does things that areso far at the opposite end that he might be looking out for people like us.Thats just wrong.

People like us? asked Rin, insulted.You know, said Sidney, making his way over to Sherry and clasping hisarms down her neck and across her chest. We are more of the studiouspeople. We make up the part of the school that might actually get somewherein life. The people like Jordan are those who have their moment in thespotlight now but will turn out to be nothing once high school is over.

But, said Rin, frowning. Jojo said he might actually be on our side.The thought is truly terrifying isnt it? asked Sidney, sighing and

shaking his head. How can someone that popular be able to identify with us?What do they know? They are part of a different world than us.

Rin stared out the window. A different world than us For whatever

reason, she thought of Jin. I dont get it sometimes.So said Robbie, leaning over Rins shoulder. Have you and Kristian

kissed yet?Have you and Kristian done it yet? asked Jojo, smiling even broader

than his brother. The two seemed proud of themselves for these questions.Rin scowled and smacked them both on the head. Mind your own

business!Hastily, Rin wrapped her arms across her chest and walked away,

frustrated. However, she didnt go very far when she felt a hand on hershoulder. She turned around, half expecting the twins to chase after her.Instead, she gazed into concerned brown eyes of the attractive co-captain.

Im envious, said Rin softly, glancing away from Sidney.This is unheard of, said Sidney pleasantly. Please share Rin Hamada.From looks alone, said Rin slowly and shyly. The twins can tell you

are going out with Sherry. Theres nothing awkward between you two at all. Atrue couple that dont need a rumor to tell the whole school about.

Sidney flashed Rin a grin. You are new at this, Rin Hamada. No one willblame you for not being able to do that successfully.

Who said I was trying to compare you two to myself? asked Rin,pouting innocently. Sidney laughed at her reaction. But lets say I am

Sidney looked even more amused. Easy, Rin Hamada. You shouldnt carewhat other people think. All you should see is your partner and him alone.

If only Arav can be more like you, said Rin with a sigh.Hes just nervous as heck when it comes to you, said Sidney,

chuckling. The poor captain has his reasons. Hes a good guy. Thats why I

I agree.Lydia is here, said Sherry, bouncing over and hiding behind Sidneys

strong physique. We need to report our other club activities to her. Come on,

Rin Hamada. You should get yours started before the bell rings.More like, said Robbie, intervening with a giant grin. We should gofirst and leave Rin for last.

If we have to wait for Hamada to finish, said Jojo reasonably. We willgraduate by then!
