Introduction
Our College was founded in 1948 with a broad objective to provide higher
education to the rural students at affordable cost and convenience. Ever since
1960, the year in which it was upgraded to encompass degree courses, it has
been imparting need-based education and affiliated to University of Mysore,
Mysore. The College obtained permanent affiliation from University of Mysore,
Mysore in 1990. The UGC accorded its recognition to our college under section
12(B) and 2(f) on 03-02-1992.
It is a matter of great privilege to state that the University of Mysore, Mysore in
pursuant of the approval of the UGC and the Government of Karnataka has
granted “Autonomous Status” to the college vides Order No. CDC: B:
AUTONOMY: 28:1992-93 dated 8th June 2005 for a period of 5 years from 2005-
06 to 2010-11. The institution made adequate preparations during 2005-06.
Different committees are constituted as per the UGC guidelines to ensure the
effective functioning of autonomy.
The college has become a Post graduate centre and a Co-educational institution
from 2007-08. The college offers BA, B.Sc, BBM and B.Com courses at the UG
level, and Political Science and Physics at the PG level. The present strength of the
college is 1833. Most of the students hail from rural areas. Students of our
institution have participated in State level and National level sports events also.
The students of the college are endowed with social consciousness. Under the
able guidance of Principal and staff, they are rendering valuable social service
like Blood donation, AIDS awareness, Tree plantation, etc. Evaluation plays a
pivotal role in the working of an autonomous institution. Hence, the examination
section headed by the Controller of examinations and assisted by an Examination
committee is formed with needed infrastructure.
The highly qualified and well-experienced teaching faculty offers constant
guidance to the students at every step to ensure their all-round development. As
the students lack communicative skill, Spoken English classes are conducted for
them. Teachers are making every effort to update their knowledge and skills.

College is eagerly waiting to recognize it self into

21. Community services Aids awareness program conducted , Blood donation
camps conducted by NSS unit of the college. More than
120 students have donated blood to the Government
hospital, Students also voluntarily donate blood to the
patients in need.

library services
The college library has total collection of 64,522 books.
The Library works from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm on all working
days. A senior grade librarian is in charge of the library
along with the supporting staff. The library and reference
section are spacious airy and well lit. The UGC funded
book bank facility is well utilized by the students. A
separate book bank for SC/ST students funded by the
State Government has nearly 3600 volumes. Computer
facility is provided to Library and various CD ROM’s are
made available as part of collection. Networking (internet)
is also done. This would indeed help for providing easy
reference to the library stock. The reading room is well
stocked with 31 dailies and 36 periodicals including
Scientific American, National Geographic. Open internet
facility for all students is made available. A language
laboratory with the required software is also setup.

from the Alumni
Association
Alumni association is doing the needful help in
enhancing the quality of education. Incentives in
the form of endowment prizes are initiated by
some of the alumni members. It meets twice in a
year to assess the activities of the college, to give
suggestions for the improvement of the institution
and to find steps to assist the college in growing
further.. In addition they contribute generously to
the welfare of the poor students. Alumni
association is acting as an advisory body and giving
valuable suggestion and guidance for the welfare of
the students. Some of them are deeply involved in
the over all development of the institution.

institution
Healthy Practices emphasize on promotion of extra
curricular activities. The committee has appreciated the
extension activities of NSS and NCC to the Public at large. It
has made several points of commendation for the
maintenance of “Herbal Garden” and the exhibition
organized by Botany department on medicinal plants, the
design and fabrication of electronic kits by the Physics
department at nominal cost, the functioning of KSOU in the
Campus and its service to rural public. Now, the college has
given ample opportunities for extra curricular activities.
One more NSS unit has been added. One of our NCC cadets
has attended RD parade at New Delhi and one NSS
volunteer has participated in National Integration Camp
held in Punjab. The staff and students of the college have
participated in anti-terrorism rally held at Mandya and
Mysore. Our students are actively participating in Science
Exhibition organized by Department of Science and
Technology in collaboration with Karnataka State Science
Forum and Department of Collegiate Education. State
Government Sponsored programs such as Sahyog, Angla
and Manavate are being conducted in the college for the
benefit of College students .

Innovation in curricular design
As an autonomous College thee curriculum of the college is designed to suit the demands of
the companies existing in the surrounding geographical locations as well as of higher studies
and research. The evaluation procedure is designed to evaluate the students in terms of their
capacity to meet the requirements of the surrounding companies in the relevant fields.
Special invited lectures are being periodically arranged so as to benefit the students in
upgrading their academic capability. Conferences/seminars are also being organized to
provide the students and the staff, a common platform to learn about the latest
developments in scientific fields. Study tour has been a component of the curriculum in
certain subjects enabling the students to gain practical field experience through observation
and data collection. The syllabus of the autonomous college is being upgraded periodically
so as to mould the syllabus to suit the current needs in terms of the scope generated for
higher studies as well as employment opportunity. In addition to the academic activities,
quite a few students of the college are being trained in the field of sports to achieve
excellence at the state and university level.
The curriculum is designed and upgraded periodically by academic bodies such as BOS,
BOE etc. to incorporate the latest developments in all fields in all the subjects and the students
are examined with modern skill thereby trained to meet the eligibility and the demands of
higher studies at all levels
While framing the syllabus for the courses, emphasis is laid on the use of modern methods
of teaching via information and communication technology, such as use of multimedia,
overhead projectors, internet etc. The website of the college will make available data such as
the list of the candidates admitted to the college, the results of examinations etc. Computer
Application has been made a compulsory common subject to all disciplines in the
curriculum.
Information is gathered from faculty, alumni heading various Institutes academic experts
such as retired professors of the college and of Mysore University, industrialists. The
information so gathered is incorporated in formalizing the decisions in statutory academic
bodies such as Academic Council and Governing Body. The students are given the freedom to
provide feedback useful in the development of the curriculum.

Examination reforms introduced during the period of Autonomy
1.Examination committee under the chairmanship of the principal takes care of the activity of the
examination system.
2. Co-ordinator and assistant co-ordinator among the faculty members are appointed to conduct
valuation and coding of the answer scripts.
3. The computers in the examination section are equipped with the Examination
Automation software for efficient processing of relevant data.

exam)
