Service.

During these uncertain times, Altrusans have been creatively doing service, while

staying safe and following necessary protocols. Some sew masks for distribution to

various organizations. Others provide food for the less fortunate, whether it be

school children, the homeless or work with a food bank. With the administration of

the COVID vaccine by Health Departments, consider writing cards of appreciation to

them. The types of service is only limited by the creativity of Altrusans!

Membership : Recruitment

New members who pay dues between April 1 and May 31 receive full

International membership for the remainder of the fiscal year and the

following year. This is a great incentive to get new member to sign up! Embark

on a recruiting mission in the month of March. Invite prospective members to

a meeting or invite them to participate in a service project, which gives a hands-on perspective of Altrusa.

Afterwards, follow up with personal contact, via phone, email, hand written note or face to face. A

Membership Tool Kit n Recruiting New Members can be found on the Altrusa International website.

In a leadership role, a positive attitude is essential, as it impacts those you lead. In considering what it

means to be positive think about: attitude is a choice; attitude determines your actions; those you lead

are a mirror of your attitude; and maintaining a positive attitude is easier that regaining one. So, how

does leaders improve one’s attitude? Set and achieve a goal daily; read/listen to positive motivational

United Nations Observance Day-International Women's Day, March 8, 2021

Kathy Schrein, Altrusa International United Nations Contact International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements

of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal

future in a COVID-19 world” is the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day. The theme celebrates the tremendous

efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even though International Women's Day is a well-known movement in most countries, it's often helpful to still set some

context. The day has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million

people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Prior to this theSocialist Party of America, United Kingdom's

Suffragists and Suffragettes, and further groups campaigned for women's equality. Today, IWD belongs to all groups

collectively everywhere. Be sure to check out this site for more information- Get involved for International Women's Day
