The Medical Exhibition is a major part of the conference, and gives delegates access to a wide General Practice product
and service update in one location.
The meeting is known for its relaxed and collegial atmosphere amongst delegates and industry participants. This atmosphere is actively encouraged to maximize the benefits for both delegates and exhibitors.
If you are active in the General Practice market, GP CME provides access to a wide cross-section of practitioners, with clinically relevant content, over a compact time frame. Together with a collegial atmosphere, this meeting is not to be missed.

You are invited to attend Rotorua GPCME 2013 to be held at the Energy Events Centre in Rotorua in June 2013. This has grown to be New Zealand’s premier medical conference providing broad medical update and practical take home information to improve your patient management immediately. A large number of GPs attend each year, over 800 in 2012. This is complemented by a very large exhibition from industry to inform what is new on the pharmaceutical and supply of equipment, texts and available IT solutions, all while gaining sufficient CPD points to satisfy our College of GPs and Medical Council requirements.
Rotorua is a great central location, with many leisure and fun options on offer for time out, especially for accompanying family members. Hotel accommodation is available at group discounted pricing, with motels aplenty for those wishing to do their own thing. The hot pools are a great way to end the day. Complimentary breakfast and evening dinner sessions are provided with a plethora of prominent speakers on widely variant topics.
Practice nurses and practice managers are essential members of general practice teams, with their own dedicated sessions on the Friday or Saturday, but able to attend the entire meeting. We are grateful for the many presenters who give of their time to assist this meeting so well. The strength of the academic programme is the key with many concurrent practical workshops throughout. It is not possible to attend all the chosen topics, so a DVD of all sessions is available for purchase to access at a later date. The presentations are also available to delegates for 3 months post conference on the internet for review as well.
On Saturday night there will be a memorable conference dinner with entertainment again.
Registration fees cater for trainees and practice colleagues and spouses, kept at a low level thanks to the generous support of industry, especially AbbVie and Boehringer Ingelheim.
Financially general practice is more buoyant again in contrast to 5-10 years back. The stress of busy practices with ever increasing consultation rates dictates you deserve a break. We welcome you back for another great event in 2013, with over 100 workshops and quality plenary presenters. One lucky punter will win the annual travel prize, courtesy of the conference committee, for some real quality time out.
Feedback is utilised in constructing the following year’s programme, and your suggestions for desired topics or speakers are acted on. Thank you for your ongoing support too.
The New Zealand Medical Association supports this meeting strongly and our thanks to Lesley, Kate, Paul and their team for their assistance.
If you require any further details, visit www.gpcme.co.nz or contact;
Kind regards,
Academic Convenor

It is again my pleasure as Chairman of the NZMA’s GP Council to welcome
you all to the annual NZMA GP CME. This conference has gone from
strength to strength over the years and remains the most well attended
GP conference in New Zealand.
This year we have extended the conference to four days with the optional
workshops on Thursday. We hope this allows a bit of time out to enjoy
some of the other attractions of Rotorua.
The venue this year is again the Energy Events Centre in Rotorua. This
venue was used last year for the fi rst time and proved to be excellent. The
larger area for industry stands, where delegates can mingle over morning
and afternoon teas and lunch, has further improved the “networking”
that is so important at this conference.
As in past years many of the registrants and speakers are return visitors.
This is indicative of the quality of the conference. We think you will fi nd
this the case and will be very likely to return in subsequent years, and we
hope you will tell your colleagues and encourage them to come in future
years.
As with recent years there is a specifi c programme for Practice Nurses
organised in conjunction with the College of Practice Nurses. Teamwork
has become increasingly important in General Practice and we are pleased
to be able to provide this education for Practice Nurses and would like to
see our GP colleagues encourage Practice Nurses to attend.
The Conference Dinner has become famous. Every year Chappie & Leon
come up with some amazing entertainment and I am assured that this
year is no different. After last year you might want to reconsider whether
you should wear a tie, though it did come back intact!
As usual we have a medico-political session on Friday and this should
be especially interesting in this General Election year. Please take the
opportunity to hear what the politicians have to say, how your elected GP
leaders respond, and of course have your opportunity to ask questions of
both groups.
As with all conferences the educational content is important, but we aim
to make this conference both educational and a great social event. We
hope that you fi nd both to be the case.
Enjoy your time here and enjoy General Practice.

EXHIBITION
09-12 June 2011 | Energy Events Centre | Rotorua
Rotorua GP CME 2011 Meeting - has been endorsed by The Royal New Zealand College of General
Practitioners (RNZCGP) and has been approved for 16 Hours CME for General Practice Educational
Programme Stage 2 (GPEP2) and Maintenance of Professional Standards (MOPS) purposes.
Workshops Preliminary Day is endorsed for 8 hours of CME
ACLS Level 7 = 12 CME credits
ACLS Level 5 = 5 CME Credits
Keep the Credit Claim/Attendance Certificate form (page 153 of the Conference Proceedings) for your
records, and apply for your MOPS or AVE CME points through your normal quarterly reporting to the
RNZCGP. You may be asked for a copy of your Attendance Certificate by the RNZCGP or New Zealand
Medical Council, so file in an appropriate place.
While the conference is approved for up to a maximum of 24 hours GPs attending can only claim for
the conference sessions they attend. Delegates will need to complete the self-recording form. The form
can be kept as the Certificate of Attendance, so practitioners participating in GPEP 2 or MOPs have the
necessary documentation for submission to the RNZCGP when this is requested.

Product Listing/Category
We will produce a product/service category listing to help delegates find products/health conditions and services. This will be cross-referenced with the exhibition stands. If you attended last year’s meeting you will be automatically listed under the same categories (see the Sponsorship/Exhibition Form on page 17) for the category options.
If you did not attend last year (or did not list your preference), please indicate which categories you would like to be listed under on the exhibition form.
Prizes
We will list any prizes/competitions/giveaways you are offering from your stand. We include these details in the conference proceedings and on the main information board to give delegates a heads up on what is happening around the exhibition area. This will also help as a conversation starter and may reduce the need for repetition re introducing the prize/competition when delegates arrive at your stand.
We can notify winners of your competition onsite, prior to the final catering session on Sun 15 June, and encourage them to visit your stand to collect their prize prior to leaving the conference. We can only do this for exhibitors who advise us what competition they are running.
You will need to advise the winner of your competition to us at the conference registration desk by 5pm on Sat 14 June.
Deadline for receiving your prize/competition details is Fri 9 May 2014.
Delegate Flow Conference Competition
To encourage delegate flow in all areas we are running a famous lodge competition.
Each exhibitor will be issued with a piece of the puzzle. Delegates will need to obtain a piece from all exhibitors to enter the draw for:
• AweekendfortwoataLuxuryNewZealandLodge
The entry form will be a page in the conference proceedings book.

The Rotorua GP CME 2014 Mobile App will provide sponsors with the opportunity for mobile sponsorships and promotion through banner ad and multimedia advertising.
This gives exhibitors a far-reaching, cost-effective way of advertising in this brand new medium. It’s a handy tool for the trade show, but it also lives on throughout the year, providing users with an industry reference tool with company, product and contact information, plus exhibitor advertising all year long.
Since exhibitor content appearing on the app is managed by the exhibitors, it’s a place to point new business prospects whenever new information is available, on a device they use daily right in the palm of their hands.
Green Package (Included at No Cost to Exhibitors) Upload your company’s logo to appear on your company’s exhibitor listing page. Also include as many downloadable .pdf product and company brochures as you’d like. Manage that content throughout the year using your provided exhibitor web portal.
