1. General Information 1.1 Functions

This Fiber Modem realize transmission of 4 channels RS232/422/485 on single mode fiber. This kind of

product has solved the problem of contradiction between communication distance and communication

rate of traditional serial port. At the same time, it also has solved the problem of electromagnetic

interference, earth link disturbance and thunder/lightning destruction, thus greatly enhancing reliability,

security and privacy of data communication. It can be widely used in various kinds of situations such as

control, process control and transportation control, and especially suited in bank, electric power as well as

departments and systems which have special request to the electromagnetic interference environment.

1.2 Features Based on self copyright IC.

RS232/485/422 interface can be optional by dip switch.

Serial port supports 0-57600bps auto-negotiation.

Combination of PDH technology and digital lock loop clock technology.

Unique serial port for circuit protection, supporting hot-plugging.

Data transmission is stable and reliable with integrated light-receiving and transmitting module.

Complete surface paste and install craft, grade design, and production-runs with piece-pasting

machine.

2. Installation 2.1 Front panel

2.1.2 Test buttons There are four buttons on the front panel, as follows from the left to right:

ANA: self loop in local fiber interfaceused to check whether local device and its connecting line work normal.

DIG: self loop in local RS232/485/422 interface, used to check the remote device and optical wire.

REM: command remote RS232/485/422 loop

PATTPBRS Code testing. To produce and transmit the PBRS to the E1 output port, and check

whether the input signal of E1 match that PBRS standard. If match, the PTOK light on, otherwise,

off. By this way, the status of the fiber circuit can be tested.

When testing, the one of above loop back must be on

When loop circuit 1 is on, confirming of local device working well is available; loop circuit 1 off and

loop circuit 2 on, confirming fiber transmission line and both devices work well is available.

Note:

The function for the combination of button switch:

A) Local ANA+ local PATT (when both buttons pressed at the same time) PBRS code test local device, if PTOK on, means ok; if off or flick, it means failure.

B) Remote DIG + local PATT (when both buttons pressed at the same time) PBRS code test local, remote device and fiber, if PTOK on, means ok; if off or flick, it means

local device failure.

C) Local REM + local PATT (when both buttons pressed at the same time) PBRS code test local, remote device and fiber, if PTOK on, means ok; if off or flick, it means

local device failure.

Push down any switch on front panel will terminate the normal communication, and turn into the

test mode.

During the PATT model testing, there should be loop-line, otherwise the PATT code cant come

back.

2.2.1 Power supply

5V power socket: input AC90V~AC260V power adaptorinside positive and outside negative; AC90V~-AC260V power socket: input AC90V~260V power supply.

110V power socket: input AC110V power supply

2.2.2 Fiber port

There is fiber port on the rear panel, SC/FC for option when oreered.

2.2.3 RS232/RS485/ RS422 port There are 4 RJ45 sockets on the rear panel:

1: channel 1-2 RS232 interface; 2: channel 3-4 RS232 interface;

3: reserved for no use; 4: reserved for no use

2.2.4 Serial port setting There is DIP-8 switch on the rear panel and the definition is as follows:

3. Procedure of Installation

* Unpack, inspect the content carefully. Verify that all items are included within your carton. Contact us or local agent if there is any content missing or damaged.

* Check power supply configuration. Care about the value of voltage if using DC input.

* Take following tests before usage:

A. Connect RX and TX optical interface of one device with pigtail, LNK light should be ON.

B. Connect RX-TX, TX-RX optical interface of two devices with pigtails, both LNK lights of two devices should be ON.

If device does not work well, please contact us or our local agent in time.

4. Trouble shooting serial Symptom Possible Problem Possible Solutions

1 LOS on Optical signal loss Check the optical signal, fiber connector




on RX terminal clean or not, fiber break or not, opposite device power on or off. Loop back the fiber input and output connectors with the fiber connecting. The light off means the device work well, then please check the opposite device and fiber.

2 LOS off, while the LOF on

Optical signal frame not in-phase

The optical connector clean or not; the input optical signal exceed the receiving sensitivity of this device or not; the input optical signal from the correct source or not(check the connecting on the fiber assort frame especially)

Press the PATT and REM buttons,(or make the opposite device loop back the

RS232/485/422 data), if the PTOK light off, it means the fiber transmission

channel have problem.

All the LED normal ,but loss of data

Fiber channel may have problem

Press REM and PATT (or tell remote terminal to loop back local terminal), if PTOK is OFF, then the fiber channel have problem.

5 If push down PATT, PTOK is OFF, then push down ANA, PTOK is ON, then the device work normally

6 If push down PATT, PTOK is OFF, then push down REM or push down DIG on the remote device, PTOK is ON, then both devices and fiber channel are work normally.
