FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK
Hi Everyone:
Imagine how delighted I was as your new President to learn that the Chapter had won TWO national AEE
awards! What a credit to the leadership of Ken Curry, who served as GPAEE President for the past three
years, and set the bar very high! And a credit to his ‘team’ of board members that each contributed their
skills to improve the organization.
The first award was for ‘Best Newsletter’, an award that we have won for two straight years. And if you are
reading this, you will know this honor is well deserved. Our newsletter editor, Caroline McCallum, has
invested the creativity and determination to produce an award worthy product month after month. Caroline
has a great talent for organizing ideas and outlines into a coherent newsletter, and it is so gratifying to have
this award as acknowledgement!
The second award won by the GPAEE was for Community Service. We were recognized for our efforts for
the Jobs Initiative, led by Jim Clark, the outreach to STEM Schools, led by Maryanne Campbell and
Steve Siddal, and the contributions to the AEE foundation scholarship, led by Randy Haines. Just think
about the impact that those efforts will have on the lives of our members, their families and the community at
large!
Importantly, as we move into a new year, think about the influence our organization has on the world we live
in. Collectively, how much energy do you think the members of our organization will save in the next year?
How many renewable energy resources will be brought on line? How much will operating costs be reduced,
and how many assets will be renewed as the result of our efforts? In short, the members of GPAEE have a
powerful impact, and I’m very proud and humbled to be your incoming President.
Best Regards,
Christine Batchelor

One Month Countdown Until Major Climate Marches in NYC and Around the World With just one month to go until the People’s Climate March in New York City this September 21, more than 100 organizations are taking part in an online recruitment drive to sign people up for the demon-stration. In the first hours of the push, thousands of new signups have already begun to flow in. The People’s Climate March is expected to be the largest demonstration for climate action in history. The march takes place just two days before President Obama and world leaders gather for an emergen-cy Climate Summit at the United Nations. Marchers are demanding leaders go beyond rhetoric and commit to bold action at the summit. More than 750 organizations around the world are supporting the People’s Climate March, from the largest transit workers union in New York City to a coalition of
Buddhist monks. In total, the groups represent roughly 100 million people worldwide. (more)
GE partners with VNG fueling company to build out station net-work for fleets GE Capital Fleet Services has announced an agreement with VNG.co, a national CNG fueling facili-ty provider, to support the expansion of the CNG refueling infrastructure for light-duty fleet vehicles. With interest rising in CNG as a lower-cost, low-emissions fuel for light-duty fleets, GE Capital Fleet Services’ agreement with VNG is aimed at connecting and incenting fleet owners to use CNG-fueled vehicles. Through the agreement with VNG, GE Capital Fleet Services’ customers will be able to take advantage of the increasing accessibility of CNG fueling stations, minimize overall fuel costs, and meet financial and environmental objectives through the use of a lower cost, more stably priced, environmentally
friendly, and domestically sourced fuel. (more)

EMPLOYMENT INITIATIVE
The economy is improving, however many of our business associates are facing hard times. We invite our
members and Sponsor companies to join the GPAEE Board in our Employment Initiative. To help our
fellow energy professionals, the GPAEE has initiated the following measures for unemployed local energy
professionals:
1. Local unemployed energy professionals can pay a reduced fee for most monthly meetings.
When registering for meetings, register under the student and unemployed rate of $5 for the
specified meetings.
2. Unemployed members can post a free energy Position Wanted ad for 3 months in our news-
letter which currently reaches over 1,000 people.
3. Free Job Ad on our newsletter Energy Job Board for GPAEE Sponsor companies and em-
ployers. Recruiters are invited to post jobs for the normal advertisement fee or on our website
at no cost.
4. Companies with openings are invited to announce them at our monthly meetings. One of
our local members landed a job with one of our Sponsor companies as a result of an announce-
ment made at a recent meeting.
The GPAEE Board reserves the right to limit the number of discounted attendees at each meeting. Un-
employed discount does not apply for retired or self employed members. For more information or ques-
tions please contact Jim Clark (610) 325-9229.

CBEI DATA ANALYST / BUILDING ENERGY MODELER The mission of the Penn State Consortium for Building Energy Innovation (CBEI) at the Philadelphia Navy Yard is to trans-form the energy efficiency market for existing small- and medium-sized commercial buildings (SMSCBs). The CBEI seeks to be recognized as the leader in creating vibrant ecosystems to identify and apply integrative technologies and innovative practices in existing buildings.
The candidate will participate in analysis of energy use in target buildings and will participate in selection and evaluation of Ener-gy Efficiency Measures (EEMs) in SMSCBs. Experience designing and installing energy retrofit projects in buildings is a plus. Candidates should have experience conducting energy audits of SMSCBs, reviewing building drawings (CAD, Revit, PDF for-mat), understanding the building systems, and screening through the building automation system (BAS) to understand roughly how the building systems are controlled/operated. Candidates will participate in the design and specification of Measurement and Verification (M&V) systems for retrofit projects, and will calculate the observed energy savings based on the available data using IPMVP and/or ASHRAE Guideline 14 compliant methods.
Candidate should possess a BS degree in an Engineering field (MS preferred), and have at least three years’ experience creating E+ models. Relevant credentials such as E.I.T. or P.E., BEMP, BEAP, LEED AP, and CEM are strongly desired.
