Graduate Employment Report CLASS OF 2014
Merrill: Public Safety Center of Excellence 1603 Champagne StreetMerrill, WI 54452715.675.3331
At Northcentral Technical College (NTC), we’re changing the future every moment. When you consider that the majority of new jobs in Wisconsin in the next decade will require the skills earned through technical college programs, I am proud of the fact that NTC graduates stimulate local economic development by putting their premier education to work right here in north central Wisconsin.
A bright future for our graduates is evident in the 2014 NTC graduate employment report. Even in difficult economic times, our graduates are finding success and achieving their potential. In fact, 93% of the Class of 2014 were employed, and 79% of those students were employed in their field. The percentage of those employed has risen 7% in the past year, and the percentage of those working in their field has risen 5% in the same timeframe.
Equipped with real world experience, our graduates are changing tomorrow, today.
Here’s to a future of possibility!
Best regards,
Lori A. Weyers, Ph.D.President
MethodologyFor the class of 2014, the survey population is comprised of 1,515 students who graduated during the 2013-14 Academic Year (August 2013, December 2013, and/or May 2014). Of the 1,5151 graduates, 583 graduated from Associate Degree programs, 360 from Technical Diploma programs (one year or greater) and 627 from Short-Term (less than one year) Technical Diplomas.
Each NTC graduate was sent a web-based survey to both NTC and personal email addresses. Non-respondents received a mail questionnaire with a postage-paid return envelope and/or a telephone follow-up.
Responses were gathered from 1,114 of the 2013-14 graduates - an overall response rate of 74% (80% response rate for Associate Degree, 78% for Technical Diplomas of one year or more, and 66% for less than one-year Technical Diplomas).
The wage information included is based on full-time employment in a related field. For purposes of this report, full-time employment is defined as 35 hours or more per week. In order to keep wage information confidential, wages are only reported if three or more graduates provided training-related wages.
Unusually high wage information may represent special circumstances, such as graduates’ previous employment in the field. Unusually low wages may be due to employment on a volunteer basis or similar circumstances.
1This total is unduplicated; however some students graduated from more than one program during the 2013-14 Academic Year.

Table Notes:¹ Wages not disclosed - Programs with fewer than three graduates reporting full-time employment wages (35+ hours/week) in a related field did not allow for anonymous reporting of salary information.² Many graduates seeking municipal jobs can take six to 18 months to be processed for employment eligibility due to substantial testing and background checks.³ Wages may be inconsistent - Some graduates from this program volunteer their services and do not receive a salary, while others may be paid on a per call basis.4 Wages may be higher than typical - Graduates of this program may have been previously employed as supervisors or employed in the field for several years prior to attending college.
For this reason, average salaries shown may be higher than a typical entry-level wage.5 Graduates of this program may be working fewer than 40 hours/week. Refer to average salary for more accurate estimate of actual wages.
