As spring seasons are beginning, I pause to reflect on the accomplishments of our athletes. Several of our athletes and teams competed in state competitions with a few of them achieving highest honors. I pause because I think of the joy that this brings the athletes, parents, teammates and fans of those competing. The antithe- sis of this I reflect on the tragedy that our school and community endured. Many a time I sat in the stands at a basketball game where I could only feel pride for those who put on the uniform, tie up their shoes and battle yet another opponent. I don’t pretend to know what the family and close friends of Josh have gone through, but from myself and the Booster Club I wanted to pass along our warmest sympa- thies to the family and friends of Josh Davis Joiner. An email and follow-up at our last meeting I heard something again that made me feel very good about what we do and the people in our neighboring communities. The West Bend schools, both East and West, split the funds earned from a 50/50 raffle and sent some money to both Grafton and Campbellsport for the memorial funds for those that were taken too quickly. To that community and fellow booster club members; Thank you from each of us for the wonderful gift. Each of these occurrences remind me why we go to the meetings, why I and others step up, why we get involved. Why?, to be involved. To be part of some- thing. To make a difference in our ath- letes experiences no matter how small. If that reaches inside of you and pulls on a string or two come be part of the program. We are currently accepting nominations for officer positions and we will need to fill sev- eral chair and team liaison positions over the next few months. This is not a requirement to be at the meetings they are open to all. Come to our next meeting @ 7:00 pm, Mon- day April 2 nd ( first Monday of each month) in the GHS library, talk to any member who is there about opportunities to help out both large and small. With the winter season coming to an end and as spring approaches, yet another chap- ter of Blackhawks competitions begin. I too must ready myself to take on new challenges as the softball season begins. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity and chal- lenge that lies ahead. I and the girls look forward to a new chapter in Blackhawk soft- ball. Again the Booster Club meets the 1 st Monday of the month at 7pm in the high school library; we would love to see you. As spring seasons are beginning, I

pause to reflect on the accomplishments of

our athletes. Several of our athletes and

teams competed in state competitions with

a few of them achieving highest honors. I

pause because I think of the joy that this

brings the athletes, parents, teammates

and fans of those competing. The antithe-

sis of this I reflect on the tragedy that our

school and community endured. Many a

time I sat in the stands at a basketball

game where I could only feel pride for

those who put on the uniform, tie up their

shoes and battle yet another opponent. I

don’t pretend to know what the family and

close friends of Josh have gone through,

but from myself and the Booster Club I

wanted to pass along our warmest sympa-

thies to the family and friends of Josh

Davis Joiner. An email and follow-up at

our last meeting I heard something again

that made me feel very good about what

we do and the people in our neighboring

communities. The West Bend schools,

both East and West, split the funds earned

from a 50/50 raffle and sent some money

to both Grafton and Campbellsport for the

memorial funds for those that were taken

too quickly. To that community and fellow

booster club members; Thank you from

each of us for the wonderful gift.

Each of these occurrences remind me

why we go to the meetings, why I and

others step up, why we get involved.

Why?, to be involved. To be part of some-

thing. To make a difference in our ath-

letes experiences no matter how small. If

that reaches inside of you and pulls on a

string or two come be part of the program.

We are currently accepting nominations for

officer positions and we will need to fill sev-

eral chair and team liaison positions over the

next few months. This is not a requirement

to be at the meetings they are open to all.

Come to our next meeting @ 7:00 pm, Mon-

day April 2nd ( first Monday of each month)

in the GHS library, talk to any member who

is there about opportunities to help out both

large and small.

With the winter season coming to an end

and as spring approaches, yet another chap-

ter of Blackhawks competitions begin. I too

must ready myself to take on new challenges

as the softball season begins. I couldn’t be

more excited for the opportunity and chal-

lenge that lies ahead. I and the girls look

forward to a new chapter in Blackhawk soft-

ball.

Again the Booster Club meets the 1st

Monday of the month at 7pm in the high

school library; we would love to see you.

The meetings are open to all. I would en-

courage you to come for one meeting and

hear about all of the things we do to support

our athletes. Please come join us and help

us make a difference in Grafton athletics. Be

a part of something great!

Go Black Hawks!

Volunteer Hours are re-

quired for GHS Booster Club

Membership. There are

many opportunities to log

volunteer hours and enjoy

working along side your

athletes’ teammates par-

ents. Sign up to be a team

liaison, offer to hold an offi-

cer club position, or work

the sports concession

stands. It is important not

only for the organization as

a whole but also for eligibil-

ity for GHS Booster Club

Student Athlete Scholar-

ships. Contact the Spring

Sport concession chairs

listed on page 4 for avail-

able time slots.

Looking Forward To Next Year

We will be in need of Team Liaisons for next year. A Team Liaison is a ‘go be-

tween’ link connecting the Booster Club and the team, coach, and athletes. A

Team Liaison needs to attend monthly meetings and then communicate any nec-

essary information to the respective team and coach. This communication link

effectively keeps the Booster Club and teams in closer contact. Also, this is a

great way to become involved not only with the Booster Club but with your ath-

lete’s team, families, and coach. Contact any Booster Club Officer with questions

or attend our next monthly meeting on Monday, April 2nd.

>The Grafton Athletic Booster Club board mem-

bers encourage and invite all members of the

club to attend the monthly meetings. The

meetings are held in the Grafton High School

Library at 7:00pm. The following are dates for

the upcoming meetings:

April 2nd—May 7th—June 4th

Good Sportsmanship Reminder

Stand for the National Anthem, Pledge of Alle-

giance, and playing of the school song. Support

all athletes’ efforts, respect the officials regard-

less of the calls, and treat the opponent with

courtesy and respect.
