Check sheet

My brothers and I often run around. Cheetahs are very fast. Our mother can run more than 100 kilometres an hour! Bob, Ray and I are slower.

Every day Mum hunts for food. My brothers and I watch her. That’s the best way to learn how to hunt.

We always eat together. Mum hunts antelopes, gazelles, rabbits and birds for us.

After our meal we clean our fur with our tongues. We all love grooming, and we purr a lot when we do it.

Two or three times a week we go to a water hole to drink.

Sometimes there are other animals at the water hole, but I stay away from them. The elephants and giraffes are so big. They scare me!

Here in South Africa it gets very hot during the day. We usually rest or sleep in the sun.

Bob, Ray and I play a lot, too. We love to wrestle. I think it’s great to have siblings because you always have fun.

When night falls, we cuddle up and go to sleep. I feel safe when I’m with my family.

4. Complete the rules.

How to talk about routines and regular events I use the simple present to talk about things that happen regularly.

For . I. , you. , we . and they , the verb form is the same as the infinitive.

I have to add s to the verb form for names, singular nouns and he, she, it.

Here are some words and phrases that express how often you do things:

often, always, usually, every day, two or three times a week I often have to use the simple present with these words.
