Set Induction

+5 minutes Map of Langkawi Island. Sample of questions i. Anyone knows what is this? ii. Have any of you visited this Island?

iii. When usually people go to the places like this?1. Teacher displays a map of Tourist Spots in Langkawi Island.2. Pupils are asked whether they know the displayed thing (map) and few other questions related to the map.3. Teacher gives basic information about the map.

4. Teacher brings in the topic for the lesson that day; The Holidays, specifically the Tourist Spots in Langkawi Island.

To set the mood and mentally prepare pupils for the lesson. Teaching aids: PPT Map of Tourist Spots in Langkawi Island.

Presentation

Video of attractive places in Langkawi Island. Flash cards of tourism places in Langkawi Island.

Definition Proper nouns include the days of the week, the months of the year, towns, cities, streets, states, countries, and brands. E.g.:i. Place Langkawi Island

ii. State Kedahiii. country Englandiv. Brand Adidas 1. Teacher presents the video of interesting places in Langkawi Island.

2. Teacher tells the names of each of the places.3. Teacher explains that those names are called nouns, specifically Proper Nouns and explain why they are all Proper Nouns.

4. Pupils are given the definition of Proper Nouns and few examples of them.5. Teacher tells that they are learning Proper Nouns specifically for the name of places.

6. Teacher shows pictures and names of tourism places in Langkawi Island from flash cards to the pupils.

7. Pupils will be able to recognise the Proper Nouns of places through pictures and names depicted on the cards.

8. Pupils are asked to read all the cards one by one chorally.

To integrate video and flashcards as the motivating components for the lesson.

Quiz Time Story excerpts about holidays.

1. The class are divided into groups of five.2. All groups will be given a different excerpt about holiday.

3. Each group will take turn to read their excerpt to the class.

4. The other groups are asked to carefully listen to the Proper Nouns mentioned from the excerpt read.

5. The fastest group to spot the Proper Noun mentioned in the story will have to write the noun on the provided space in front.

6. Points will be given for every correct Proper Noun written. 7. Teacher asked for few more Proper Nouns of places pupils can state. This counted as bonus marks. 8. Teacher will announce the winner at the end of the quiz. To gauge pupils recognition skill and assess their memory.

To enable pupils to complete tasks by relating it to the previous information.

Assessment: Able to give appropriate sample of Proper Nouns for places.1. Teacher explains to the class that they are going to make hanging cards and the process the pupils will go through.

2. Teacher shows few samples of hanging cards to guide pupils in making their own.

3. All groups are given a card written Langkawi Island and an envelope each containing 5 blank punched cards.4. Each group have to write the names of tourism places in Langkawi Island on the blank cards provided.5. Pupils are then have to tie their cards with a string or ribbon provided by the teacher with their own creativity based on the samples shown earlier.

6. All groups will present their cards to the class.

7. Teacher will give feedback to each groups work. To apply and transfer knowledge learnt in the lesson. To evaluate pupils understanding of what they have learnt. To provide feedback. Teaching aids:

Homework: find the names of the other tourist spots in Malaysia. Moral Values from the lesson e.g. i. We should support the countrys tourism.ii. We should

appreciate our own country. iii. We should know interesting places in our own country. 1. Teacher summarises the lesson that day.

2. Teacher instils some moral values.

3. Each pupil is asked to bring two types of cards that are different from the ones teacher shown in the lesson that day. To reinforce the content knowledge learnt.

To toughen pupils new knowledge by giving related homework.

To equip pupils with excellent moral values.
