Lost & FoundLost something on the bus? Phone 780-538-0300 and provide the date, time, route number and description of the lost article. We will do our best to find any lost articles and help you get back your lost property.

If you find an item on the bus, please turn in the item to the driver.

AdvertisingFor advertising opportunities on buses, benches, shelters or recycling containers call Bus Bench Promotions 780-539-6555.

Disabled Transportation SystemThe Disabled Transportation Society (DTS) is a non-profit group. Please call 780-830-RIDE (7433).

Accessible Transit (Low floor, wheelchair access)GP Transit offers low floor bus service on all routes. The bus lowers to the curb for easy access. If you use a wheelchair, other mobility aide, or are pushing a stroller, etc., the bus is equipped with a ramp. If you require the ramp and the driver does not automatically extend the ramp please request the ramp to be extended. A passenger who is unable to board and secure their wheelchair must travel with a companion. The companion will have to pay the appropriate transit fare. A driver will assist with raising the necessary seats and securing the wheelchair. Grande Prairie Residents with Special Transportation Needs who are unable to use the “fixed route” transit system please call the Disabled Transportation Society at 780-830-7433.

GENERAL INFO

Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH)Passes for the upcoming month are available AFTER the 15th day of the current month (e.g. to apply for a January pass, apply after December 15). Passes are available at ONE LOCATION ONLY - Cashier, First Floor, Grande Prairie City Hall, 10205 - 98 Street. (Open 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday thru Friday.) You must present the following information to receive a pass: your name, Medical Services Card number, and one other type of identification.

Animals/PetsCertified service animals are welcome on transit buses.

Pets in safe, secure cages are welcome on the bus. The transit operator may refuse a trip if your pet poses a health or safety risk, or if it misbehaves.

Courtesy SeatingSeating is available at the front of all buses for customers with limited mobility and elderly customers.

Bike & RideA great way to stay fit and keep the environment healthy is to ride your bike and the bus. We are increasing the number of bike racks on our buses.

TransfersTransfers are FREE on GP Transit. When boarding the bus, ask the bus driver for a transfer and tell the driver which route it will be used for. Transfers are valid for 90 minutes and can be used only by the passenger to whom they have been issued. The 90 minutes start after transfer has been torn.

Travel TipsGrande Prairie Transit Operators do their best to maintain schedules, so that you may arrive safely and on time. On occasion, road construction, very inclement weather, a maintenance problem or a major traffic tie-up may put the bus behind schedule.Your patience and understanding is appreciated at these times. The following tips on bus travel will make your trip go more smoothly:

• Have your pass, ticket or exact change ready when boarding the bus.

• Please step out of the shelter as the bus approaches so you can be seen by the driver.

• “Move on back” and keep the front seats free for seniors and those with less mobility.

• Make room for everyone, 1 person = 1 seat.• Keep the language appropriate for all ages.• Keep conversations respectful of others, including cell

phone conversations. • For everyone’s comfort, earphones are to be used when

using any listening device (radio, MP3, iPods, etc.)

• Please keep all large articles out of the aisle, and have strollers or walkers folded or out of the aisle, so others can pass safely.

• Keep your ride clean and looking good by placing all garbage in the containers provided on the bus.

• For your safety, please do not engage the operator in unnecessary conversation while the bus is in motion.

• To avoid potential injury, please do not chase after the bus once it has left the curb.

• No open food or beverages are allowed on the bus.GP Transit supports a Respectful Workplace; abusive or inappropriate behaviour towards other passengers or our staff will not be tolerated and riding privileges may be suspended.
