Stay at delightful Wickaninnish Inn which sits atop a rocky spit pro- jecting to the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Roam the marvellous beach where great waves break endlessly on the hard sand, wash- ing up strange sea life and the occasional glass ball from the nets of Japanese fishermen thou- : —;— Transit buses handled huge Conference moves The Transportation Division recently concluded supplying regular and special transporta- tion services to the largest con- ference held in Vancouver. The International Congress of Mathematicians brought to- gether about 6000 delegates from around the world. The transit system supplied charter buses for moving delegates be- tween downtown Vancouver and the University of British Columbia and other points. This was a huge undertaking complicated by coinciding with the heavy Pacific National Exhibition traffic. Its success was made possible by the ex- cellent cooperation of our tran- sit operators who volunteered for charter trips and for over- time work. The largest single move was on the opening day of the congress when almost 2000 delegates were moved from the UBC where they were housed to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. A total of 39 buses were required for this op- eration. Museum Film Shows The Centennial Museum's popular motion picture series will be repeated this winter each Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the lower auditorium. The Internat ional Congress of Mathematicians brought to­gether about 6000 delegates from around the world. The transit system supplied charter buses for moving delegates be­tween downtown Vancouver and the University of British Columbia and other points. This was a huge undertaking complicated by coinciding with the heavy Pacific National Exhibition traffic. Its success was made possible by the ex­cellent cooperation of our tran­sit operators who volunteered for charter trips and for over­time work. The largest single move was on the opening day of the congress when almost 2000 delegates were moved from the U B C where they were housed to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. We want to remind all students about this im­portant little item when they ride our buses, because as long as they show a valid school certificate they can ride for student fares. So please show your certificate as you pay your fare and everyone is happy and you help to make the bus system work better.

Certificates issued in 1973 can be used to September 15. Those issued in 1974 are now valid, and will be the only ones accepted by operators after September 15.

The bus service which oper­ates around Stanley Park on Sundays and holidays has been extended to September 29. Too, it now commences at 10 a.m. and continues on a 20-minute schedule with the last trip leaving the Stanley Park Loop at 7 p.m.

This is a special service and regular fares apply, with no transfers accepted or issued. However, Sunday and Holiday passes are valid and may be used to board and get off at all regular stops around the park.

Fall Foliage tour Here is a delightful tour into

Davie buses to be routed via Howe Street In conjunction with transit

changes on the Granville Mall, Davie buses will move from Richards Street to Howe Street on the expected change-over date of Sunday, September 15.

The revised routing for #8 Davie buses through the down­town area will be via Hastings, Howe, Davie to Denman.

Circle Tour through Washington, Okanagan "Wenatchee, Rocky Reach,

Grand Coulee and Penticton Harvest Tour" leaves on Sep­tember 13 for a four-day holiday circle of scenic and interesting country.

Gulf Island - Victoria day trips end Sept. 15 Last of the special one-day

The bus leaves the Gulf Islands ferry at Long Harbour and there is a lunch-stop on Salt-spring Island. Then by another ferry to Vancouver Island. See Duncan, and travel the scenic coastal road and the Malahat Drive to Victoria.
