Task 1 (P1, P3, P4, P5)Carlisle College Computing Logo

Pass 3, 4, 5, Merit 2 and Distinction 2

The ‘Carlisle College Computing’ logo was done through adobe software, which used multiple layers and different tools to have a final image. The actual image is to integrate the college’s logo with the college’s hardware manufacturers, so more people recognize them both. The edit was done through four layers (the bubbles/the border and red areas/the radeon and amd logo/the Carlisle college logo). The first logo is the base and wasn’t touched, except for the greyscale, then the next three were opaque, the closer to the top the more opaque and transparent they get. This way the four layers fit well together and you cant see the edges of each leyer and erased area. The tools that were used include the erase tool, the selection tool, the layers order and layers opacity. The final render was done with minimal compression and the highest quality per each individual object.

Grow the game flyer

Pass 3, 4, 5, Merit 2 and Distinction 2

Task 1 (P1, P3, P4, P5)

The game flyer was done through photo editing software, which was done in a unique style because it was ‘sketched’ in photoshop. Another transparent layer was added above the re-organized poster, then drew over it with a custom brush, this then gave it a unique and artistic style, and not like a standard photo. The left of the image was selected and flipped horizontally to remove the text box which was there previously, the style applied earlier was then applied to this half.Other work which was done on this image was the logos at the bottom were re-organized and re-sized, and the text was done through text with added in pixels from the standard brush. The final image was rendered at a uncompressed size, because it’s not being used on the web, and the quality was also render at a very high quality, so the full detail can be seen. Along with this the color depth was assigned at the standard 256bit.

Task 1 (P1, P3, P4, P5)Clone – Flower, Ships

Pass 3, 4, 5, Merit 2 and Distinction 2

The cloning task was very difficult because it involved using stamps and reference points, but it was still achieved, the stamps were used by assigning a fixed reference point then painting at another location, so you could manipulate objects and clone them without noticing. In this image, the twigs and braches were removed and replaced with clouds and sky, then a small sharpen filter was applied to the sky so you couldn’t see where the edit has taken place. The submarine and the missile were both done separately in other documents, the copied over this image, after pasting it the blur tool and smudge tool could manipulate the speed of the missile along with the size of the submarine. This image was finished at the same size as the starting image, with the same resolution and quality, along with this, there wasn't any compression.

Task 1 (P1, P3, P4, P5)Teeth

Pass 3, 4, 5, Merit 2 and Distinction 2

The teeth were done through selecting the rea of the color affected area in the image (top left), and then individually adjusting the gamma and brightness. Along with this, the color was tinted blue to give them a more natural look.Apart from that though, the edges of the teeth were blurred slightly with the blur tool, this was to remove the yellow edges form the old teeth. You can also tell the way that is was done because the area around the teeth is a higher contrast and a higher brighteness.

Task 1 (P1, P3, P4, P5)Game Cover

Pass 3, 4, 5, Merit 2 and Distinction 2

The game cover that was designed, was grand theft auto 6, which uses old parts of the grand theft auto 5 cover, but with a few adjustments, like the esrb rating, the description and the images. The cover was done by outlining a custom cover above a new layer, then styling it into a cartoon style, then a filter was applied for depth and noise. The resolution has to be limited to the box cover’s resolution and size though.

Task 1 (P1, P3, P4, P5)Film Poster

Pass 3, 4, 5, Merit 2 and Distinction 2

The poster for a new sci-fi film was done through editing the original Shawn of the dead poster, the logo was outlined and painted over, then a drop shadow was added. All of the other props were done through adding transparency and a new layer, like the planet and the vehicles in the bottom right. Then the sequel text (“2”) was done through illustrator with a custom font, then the same effect was applied as the logo so it mached.

Task 1 (P1, P3, P4, P5)Minecraft style game design

Pass 3, 4, 5, Merit 2 and Distinction 2

The Minecraft style game was made form an edited screenshot of a current game and then pixilated with a custom title, this would be used as an ad to publicize the game and it’s graphics style. The image also has an edited space background image to then show the space aspect to the whole game.

Task 1 (P1, P3, P4, P5)Color Popping / Greyscale

Pass 3, 4, 5, Merit 2 and Distinction 2

The color popping and greyscale was done in Photoshop, by creating two different layers and then applying the greyscale to one of them, this way the background was greyed out and it would add extra contrast to the rest of the image. The main character which has the color popping effect, along with this the color a=was enhanced and the brightness was increased.

Task 1 (P1, P3, P4, P5)Other Misc Tasks

Pass 3, 4, 5, Merit 2 and Distinction 2

The clipping layer fot his logo, was done through making a background imaged based off the game ad then applying some text above it, after this the clipping layer gave it a good final effect.

The Carlisle college logo was done through editing a second layer on top of the original image, this then gave a good effect of it being drawn or painted instead of just produced in photoshop.

Task 2 (M2)The resolution that was used in the majority of the images are above 1200 x 700 at 720p, this was to ensure that when the images were viewed the full detail is shown and more content can be seen, this was preferable because if there was a smaller resolution than it would be too difficult to distinguish different objects or different text. The color depth was at least 256 throughout the whole assignment, this was to prevent the use of a low amount of colors, if an images had been done with a lower color depth, than it wouldn’t match the quality of the other items on the display (like the start screen, interface or taskbar)The file format that was selected was also quite important because it had to be imported into the blogger program and the PowerPoint software, in the majority of cases, this file format was either png or jpg, depending on the scaling requirements to fit on the page.Compression was used throughout the entire task, because by default abode Photoshop, adobe fireworks and adobe illustrator use a high-end compression to keep the file size smaller and therefore having slower loading times, slower loading for images and resources and more, the compression could’ve been better by the reducing the image quality and color rate while staying above the requirements I’ve set above.
