Great at Relationships? You’ll Do Great As An

Entrepreneur

• Who would have thought initiating a startup and dating would have anything in common?

• Continue on to see how the odds of striking it rich can be similar to those of finding true love.

Be Selfless• Studies have shown that startup founders tend

to run their operations single-handedly.• Similar to relationships, running a ‘one-man-

show’ is certainly not ideal in startups either.• It is imperative to work together with like-

minded mates to help sail your ship smoothly and safely to success.• Learn to give, take, delegate work

appropriately and party together in style.

Be Flexible• Adaptability is among the most basic

and important key to startup success.• Like relationships, the environment is

constantly evolving and changes happen when you least expect them to.• To go far in a startup, embrace and

adapt to these changes even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone.

Be Optimistic• The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in millennials.• Studies shown that the average startup founder is aged

between 20 to 36 years old.• Like relationships, be optimistic! You’re in this for the

long haul.

Be Prudent With Money

• Love won’t pay the bills• While initial round of seed funding may come from

investors/ in-laws, startups/ marriages are an investment that will continually incur costs.• Be smart about spending and work towards developing

a self-sustaining business model that generates revenue quickly.

Be Committed• Like any relationships, commitment is key.• The startup path isn’t an easy one with only 10% of

startups becoming successful.• As there are many risks involved, take time to learn

what you need to deal with before diving head-first into your startup idea and persevere!

Be An Expert On Your Partner/ Target Market• The more you understand your target market, the

higher your chances are.• Listen and learn your consumers’ likes and dislikes that

will be useful for your business in the competitive landscape of business.• Niche marketing and quirky businesses have proven to

be effective in garnering attention from your target market.• e.g: Dirty Rotten Flowers, I Want To Draw A Cat For You

Be Ready To Fail

• The startup path can be an exhausting endeavor.• You will have to constantly innovate,

whether it’s on ideas, new places to venture, technicalities, product design, room renovation or growth.• Remember that the struggles you

face will only make you stronger.

Be Passionate• If you love the person you’re in

a relationship with, any struggle or hardship would be worth it.• When you absolutely love what

you do and believe in, you will also achieve a greater purpose.• While it is up to the market to

decide if your startup venture succeeds, it is up to you to keep it relevant and exciting.

• Hold on to your dreams and keep it up because trial and error will always be a part of startups (and relationships).

• So if you feel that it will just not work or if you don’t think you can continue to fight on, don’t give up on things/ people that you love.
