1. Customers don’t necessarily need it but they most definitely need to want your product

2. Understand why customers would want your product

3. Place yourself in their shoes, what makes your product more appealing than your competitors

4. Never assume they want your product simply because you know it solves their problems, the two may be different

5. Back up the ‘want’ with something that they also need and you are on to a winner

1. Even the best product will not sell if the customers do not know it is there

2. Identify your customers and spread your message as wide as possible to give them a chance at noticing your product

3. Put your message in the right context, set the right impression. A flyer may work for one product but not right for another

4. The best way of getting identity is through word of mouth, a reputation is a great way of getting noticed

5. Use a website to build a brand, use sales techniques to sell your product

2. Bad support = very bad reputation = low customers and short term

3. Good support = trust = high customers and high retention

2. Build a reputation, if you have a young company come clean, trust requires honesty

3. Your customers will trust you, not your company, that comes as a result of association

4. Never be late for your meeting with customers, be open and honest and make it easier for them to trust you

5. Providing free advice and help to your customers without being asked is always helpful providing your advice is well received

1. Don’t undervalue or overvalue your product.

2. Undervalue and your customers may not take you seriously

3. The price is one of many factors which your customer will consider, don’t let price be a barrier

4. Determine the price by determining the value to the customer, don’t just consider the cost of building

5. Customers cost the value items you are selling, any value added items should be separated. They only buy what they think they need, any more and they question the value.
