FEBRUARY 2017 FAMILY MINSTRY PRAYER FOCUS

Theme: The Power Of Love.

Scripture: And we know that in all things GOD works for the good of those who love him ,

who have been called according to his purpose. No, in all these things we are more than

conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither

angels or demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor

depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is

in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:28 & 37-38

The Focused Family Focus Prayer

During the month of February let us not forget the most powerful force that we have in our

families, LOVE. Let us pray for those who are struggling in any situation and also may we

all bind together in our families to support, love and pray them through the many challenges,

letting love be the ultimate representation of what we all feel about each other in our family.

Let Love Strengthen Your Family!

CHURCH COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ

as our Savior; and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name

of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of

God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with

one another, as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian

love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness; to

give it a place in our affections, prayers and services above every organization of

human origin; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to

contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God has prospered us, towards its expenses,

for the support of a faithful and evangelical ministry among us, the relief of the poor

and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. In case of a difference of

opinion in the church, we will strive to avoid a contentious spirit, and if we cannot

unanimously agree, we will cheerfully recognize the right of the majority to govern.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotion; to study diligently the word

of God; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and

acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be kind and just to those in our

employ, and faithful in the services we promise others; endeavoring in the purity of

heart and good will towards all men to exemplify and commend our holy faith.

We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort and stir up each other unto

every good word and work; to guard each other’s reputation, not needlessly

exposing the infirmities of others; to participate in each other’s joys, and with tender

sympathy bear one another’s burdens and sorrows; to cultivate Christian courtesy; to

be slow to give or take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of

the rules of the Saviour in the eighteenth chapter of Matthew, to secure it without

of God, who hath called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.

When we remove from this place, we engage as soon as possible to unite with some

other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of

God's Word.

Feed the Hood Project

I volunteer the 1st Saturday of the month in SE Washington DC handing out clothing and food to the homeless. I noticed that the group had very few Boys,

Teenage Boys and Men's clothing items. Please look in your closets and see if you have Coats, Socks, Pants, Sweat

The overwhelming success of the film Hidden Figures, starring Taraji P. Henson, highlighted three African-American women who were instrumental in propelling the U.S. space program. The state of Arkansas has a hidden figure of its own in Raye Montague, who is the first person to design a U.S. Navy ship using a computer.

Montague was born January 21, 1935 in Little Rock, Ark. As a girl, her grandfather took her to an exhibit in South Carolina featuring a captured German submarine. After

peering at the controls for the vessel, the seven-year-old Montague asked the tour guide how the machines worked. He responded that it was a job for engineers and that she didn’t need to worry about it.

The response fueled Montague from that moment on, even though racial and gender barriers in the ’40’s and 50’s were daunting. Determined to earn an engineering degree, Montague attended what is now known as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, graduating in 1956. Heading to D.C., the stellar student caught the attention of the Navy and began working for the military branch.

Her studious nature led her to learn how computers worked, advancing her past male colleagues from larger universities. In an interview, Montague revealed that she taught herself to drive while working for the Navy. While her colleagues thought her working late hours was a show of dedication to the job, the truth was she was learning how to drive on the go and didn’t want to do so in rush hour traffic.

For 14 years, Montague rose in the ranks and became a computer systems analyst at the Naval Ship Engineering Center. In 1970, though racist bosses in the Navy sneered at her accomplishments, they came to rely on her in a time of need. While at the department, an admiral brought a request from President Richard Nixon who wanted to get the jump on a ship design.

While the admiral said the Navy was given two months to complete the design, he charged her with getting the job done in one month. Montague finished the design in just over 18 hours.

Montague, who was married three times, retaining her second husband’s surname as he was the father of their son David, won the Navy’s Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1972. Six years later, she earned the Manufacturing Engineers Achievement Award. CSTM Presents Healthy Habits For the Month of February

Increase Your Aerobic Exercise. It's still winter so exercise is important to keep a healthy state of mind, as well as a healthy body. Work to increase your daily or weekly aerobic exercise tally. It could be adding 10 more minutes a day, or adding a whole new day to

your current regimen.

Keep a food diary! Tracking your meals can make you more conscientious about what (and how much) you’re really eating, and where you can make smarter choices. Tools like MyFitnessPal are great for keeping track of the foods you eat and for getting more

familiar with how many calories they actually contain.

Cancer is such a scary word, no matter how it's spoken. Peace of mind taken for granted, can be crushed and forever broken.

But together we could fight this!

It's an enemy from within us, striking oh so randomly. Tomorrow it could be you, for yesterday it was me.

So together we should fight this!

While science is advancing, my heroes still are dying. Some treatments just aren't working, but still we'll keep on trying.

And together we will fight this!

Research is the magic word, it's what we want to see. Nothing less than a cancer cure, would mean so much to me.

For together we have fought this!

It'll take support from everyone, to really see this through. So peace of mind for all of us, can start off fresh and new.

And together we will win!
