You are visiting a foreign country - the food will be different!
• Breakfast is continental
• Packed lunches are provided on activity and excursion days
• Evening meals are provided at the hotel
• Drinks with meals are not included Local water is normally quite safe to drink however stomachs may take time to adjust. It may be better to rely on bottled water which can be bought on-site We will provide bottled water for students for training sessions and fixtures – this will be purchased in bulk by staff on arrival and distributed during training and fixtures. Many thanks for your £10 contribution on Parent Pay towards this
8. Spending Money How much spending money should I take? It all depends on your own budget and what you intend purchasing; but the following points may help...
- You will need money for food on your journeys to/from resort - You will need money for drinks with meals in resort - You will need money for snacks and souvenirs in resort - You may want to call home - There may be entrances fees - There may be evening events - Change money into Euros before departure. - Sterling for the journey to and from Dover £10 to £20 a day will be more than plenty and group leaders will organise a bank so you don’t spend everything on the first day! Please put this into an envelope clearly marked with the student’s name and the amount enclosed. The last evening in resort is traditionally an opportunity to take students out for a meal in the resort. We have previously used local restaurants that provide a meal deal include starter, main course and a drink for 15 Euros. It is recommended that each student keeps this amount for use during the evening.
If parents would like staff to look after their children’s pocket money, staff will operate a ‘banking’ facility each evening after Dinner. Staff will issue the amount of money requested by the student for the following day. In between times, money will be stored in the hotel’s safe. If you wish your child to make use of this, please place their money in an envelope, clearly bearing their name with the amount of cash enclosed (in each denomination) and hand it to staff on the day of departure. Students will be responsible for the money ‘withdrawn’ each day from that point onward.
If children are going to handle their own money, they should carry it on their person at ALL TIMES and will take complete responsibility for this money.
9. Medical Any student at present taking any form of medication should have stated this on
the Medical Questionnaire completed and signed by parents.
Staff can look after medicine for students until required.
Students may wish to bring a small first aid kit.
Medical bags are brought by the school for all training sessions and fixtures
Unless requested otherwise by parents, students will be responsible for administering their own medication although staff MUST be aware that they are on medication.
10. Passports and EHICs
All students are travelling on their own passports. Passports, ID cards, EHICs and other supporting documents will be kept with staff, or placed in the hotel safe for the duration of the tour. These will be handed back to students towards the end of the return journey.
11. Insurance Fully comprehensive insurance is included in the cost for each party member. The following details have been provided with your tour booklet. Full policy document Statement of Insurance & Key Facts
Company: Endsleigh
Policy Number: NS9 000129
You may wish to take out your own independent travel insurance.
12. Purchase of Alcohol and Tobacco
Parents and students are reminded that NO STUDENTS ON THIS COURSE ARE OLD ENOUGH TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PURCHASE/BRING ALCOHOL INCLUDING WINES AND SPIRITS.
If anyone is caught with any of these substances during the week school policy states that they are liable to be sent home immediately and at the parents’ expense. We appreciate your support with helping us to enforce this policy.
13. ID Cards All students will be issued with an ID Card. This will have the hotel’s address and telephone number together with Mr Egan’s contact details in case of emergency. These should be kept on pupils at all times.
14. Clothing and Kit
Students are required to wear the tour polo shirt and hoodie (dependent on weather conditions) for the whole journey to Loutraki. This will ensure that students are easily recognizable at all times. This should be worn with comfortable clothing and shoes for the duration of the journey.
Sufficient clothing for the week and sensible shoes/trainers which are vital for day trips where students need to be able to walk round in comfort.
Average temperature is 16-17 degrees Celsius in April; however there is chance of colder weather and also rainfall during this time of year.
Please remember to bring a towel and swimming kit.
All students will receive the following (inclusive in cost):
- Polo shirt
- T-shirt
- Hoodie These will have the school logo and tour information on them. The polo shirt will also have the student’s names printed on them.
Activity Kit
Football Black/Navy Shorts, MCS Socks, Trainers/Astro Trainers, Shin Pads, Water Bottle
Rugby Black/Navy Shorts, MCS Socks, Trainers/Astro Trainers, Football/Rugby Boots, Gum Shield, Water Bottle
Hockey Black/Navy Shorts/Skirt, MCS Socks, Trainers/Astro Trainers, Shin Pads, Hockey Stick*, Water Bottle
Netball White T-shirt, Black/Navy Shorts/Skirt, MCS socks/Sports Socks, Trainers, Water Bottle
Dance Comfortable Dancing Clothes e.g. T-shirt, Leggings, Shorts, Water Bottle
At extra cost of baggage (see the Baggage section of the booklet). Hockey sticks will provided for all students during training and fixtures
All Hockey and Football fixtures are played on Astroturf and 4G pitches – no boots required! Rugby will be played on both grass and 4G pitches.
The school will provide the school’s Rugby, Football, Hockey and Netball shirts for all fixtures. These will be distributed to students the week of travel for students to pack in their suitcase.
15. Correspondence and Communications –
Parents/Students In the most unlikely event of any issues, news will be sent to the Headteacher and
the school emergency contacts Mrs Jane Baker and Mr Darryl Williams.
When and if convenient and resources are available there will be updates provided by email and Twitter. Please follow @LearnWithMCS for Twitter updates.
Parents are urged not to telephone their children unless an absolute emergency arises. In this instance it is requested that parents contact Mr Egan primarily. This is to ensure that staff are aware of relevant information and that upset within the group/on behalf of the student can be minimised.
Please ensure that all Data Roaming is switched off on mobile devices as high costs can occur in foreign countries.
16. Evening Entertainment
There will be plenty of opportunity for students to relax in the evenings in their own rooms, or the relaxation areas of the Sportscamp.
Students will not be allowed out of the hostel/hotel complex unless accompanied by a member of staff going on an organised group activity.
There may be additional evening activities organised however, due to the potential lateness of fixtures taking place this will be arranged closer to the time.
17. Rest and Recuperation
After each hard day’s fixtures, training sessions, workshops and excursions it is essential that students rest up at some stage in the early evening. Relax, shower, sit quietly and chat/play games/read – this type of ‘non-activity’ is very important as the whole tour will be demanding together with some challenging fixtures and workshops taking place!
18. Fixtures, Training Sessions and Workshops • All fixtures are against locally based teams and are of a comparable standard
opposition. If students wish to experience a range of activities they need to speak to the members of staff in charge of those activities (numbers permitting).
• There may be a need for students to participate in fixtures in other sports if
there is a shortage of players. • Football, Rugby and Hockey training sessions will be organised and led by MCS
staff • Netball coaching sessions will be led by All England Netball Association (AENA)
coaches. • Dance workshops will include: 5 Dance Workshops (1.5 hours each) including
Contemporary Dance and Hip Hop.
