• Aphrodite was the goddess of love, desire and beauty.

• Less physically powerful than the rest of the gods , but capable of subjugating them all. His beauty and control over desire gives him great power.

• In Greek culture it was known as Venus.

APHRODITE BIRTHThere are two accounts of her birth :

• The first account that aphrodite was the daughter of zeus and Dione

• The second account was she arose from the sea on a giant scallop, after Cronus castrated Uranus and tossed his severed genitals into the sea. Aphrodite then walked to the shore of Cyprus. In a different version of the myth, she was born near the island of Cythera, hence her epithet "Cytherea"

One of the most famous myths is the adultery of aphrodite with Ares. When arriving this new to the ears of the husband of aphrodite, Hephaestus with all his rage made a net that would catch lovers without escape. So one day Hephaestus carried out his plan which finished well. Hephaestus called all the gods for to ridicule Ares and Aphrodite. Poseidon asked for a release and so he promised that if either of them did not fulfill his punishment he would fulfill it for them.

PERSONAL OPINION

• The work has seemed very interesting. It aroused to me my interest in mythology and painting. For my point of view we would have removed the first part but the work has helped me and the goddess that has touched me is perfect, all their myths are very interesting. I was happy to work on this subject.
