1) Turn the fuselage up side down again. The wires of the main landing gear assembly may needspreading to match the fore and the rear slots that are located under the covering.

2) There are holes pre-drilled in the bottom of the fuselage for mounting the main landing gear. Youdon’t need to cut away the covering in the slots. The gear wire will push the covering into theslots when you tighten the mounting screws . Leaving the covering in the slots will help keep thewood from getting oil soaked.

3) Slip the main wheels on the axles and use the four wheel collars (L03) to retain the wheels inplace.

4) Finally, fix the main landing gear assembly in place by tightening the mounting screws (L05) inthe hold-down plates (L04) as shown in Fig. (3).

4) The crimp tubes at the rear of the rudder and elevator pull-pull cables have been left lose so thatyou can adjust the length of the cables if necessary. YOU MUST CRIMP THESE TUBES witha crimping tool or heavy-duty narrow-jaw pliers (not needle nose pliers) after you finishadjusting the rudder and elevators. Failure to do this could cause you to lose control of theairplane and to crash it. It’s a good idea to check that all of the crimp tubes are tight and then puta drop or two of thin CA on the tubes to be doubly sure that they won’t slip.

7. The traveltraveltraveltravel of each control surface depends upon your piloting skill level and flying style. Werecommend the following to begin with:

Elevator: 15 degrees each sideRudder: 20 degrees each sideAilerons: 10 degrees up / down

FlyingFlyingFlyingFlying thethethethe TigerTigerTigerTigerMothMothMothMoth

It’s better to test fly your Tiger Moth on a fine day with moderate or little wind though it can handlereasonably strong winds. Nevertheless, with its light flying weight and large wing area, it naturallyprefers calm conditions....

On take-off, the throttle should be advanced gradually just like a full size Tiger Moth.... You may need alittle right rudder on the initial take-off roll.... The tail will lift fairly quickly and only a little back stick isneeded allow the plane to climb out.

Aerobatics, such as loops and rolls, are easy with the Tiger Moth once it has been trimmed out for straightand level flight. To do loops, merely face the model directly into the wind at a reasonable height. After agentle dive apply a medium "up" elevator, taking it half off at the top of the loop and applying it again asthe plane dives on the final part of the maneuver. Rolls are commenced again by flying directly into thewind and then applying right or left aileron control. It is important, when the model is half way throughits roll and on its back inverted, to give medium "down" elevator to keep the aircraft level. Similarly youcan roll the plane upside down and fly inverted provided you apply the required amount of "down"elevator. Directional control whether flying upright or inverted is easy with the use of aileron movement....Spinning is easy with the Tiger Moth.... Gradually pull throttle stick and elevator stick to stall your plane, and apply rudder to make it enter spinning. To recover from a spin requires the use of rudder against thespin, prior to or simultaneously with the elevator. In this way the model will be pitched into an evensteeper attitude but will emerge in a steep dive and pick up speed rapidly.... Thus, a normal dive recoverycan be carried out.... It is important that if spinning is to be done deliberately, it should be at a goodheight....

Landings can be performed on the main gear or as “three-pointers” if you allow for a real slowtouch-down speed and keep your model straight and level....

In one word, the Tiger Moth is designed to fly like a trainer for the beginners as well as a sport flier forthe experienced pilots....

Good luck and happy flying!!
