Wo war die Mauer? Kein anderes Bauwerk hat das StadtbildBerlins so geprägt. Die Mauer war eine Tragödie, die wir unsnicht erlauben können zu vergessen, aber wenn man heutedurch Berlin geht, ist es fast unvorstellbar, dass hier eine Mauerexistiert hat, kaum Spuren fast keine Reste. Die furchtbare Spurder zweiten deutschen Diktatur, die auch ein Wahrzeichen derStadt geworden war, ist heute fast nicht mehr zu finden.
Die Mauer deren Fall eine bedeutende Botschaft der Hoffnungfür die ganze Welt war, ist in diesem Ereignis auch undbesonders wichtig für Menschen die aktuell unter ideologischenoder physischen Mauern leiden müssen.
Mit Grenzen Kerzen wird an den Niedergang der Mauergedacht, wird Solidarität geübt, mit den Völkern, die sich einähnliches Ereignis bei sich erhoffen – Befreiung von denFesseln.
Im letzten Jahr haben bei Aktionen von Grenzen KerzenTausende Menschen teilgenommen, indem sie eine Kerze mitihrer eigenen Botschaft beschriftet, entzündet und dann entlangdes ehemaligen Mauerverlaufes aufgestellt haben.
Where was the wall anyway? The one featurethat shaped Berlin more than any other, has allbut disappeared from the face of Berlin.
The wall is a tragedy that must not be forgotten,and yet it is already almost impossible to re-imagine. Practically a symbol for Berlin, and graphic evidence of the second German dictatorship, yet today it is difficult to find even atrace of where the wall once stood.
The Berlin Wall is also a potential source of hopefor people all over the world#who face similar divisions now, and for those facing ideologicaldivides as effective as any fortified wall
To provide a space to reflect upon the fall of the wall and consider peoples everywhere who liverestricted lives and hope for a similar turn of events, thousands of people took part in writing, lighting, and setting Grenzen Kerzen where the wall used to be.
