Grizzlies Said: What We’re Thankful For
What the Grizzlies Have Been Up To
“Here is your opportunity to meet thousands of Key Clubbers from the span of three
states, be recognized for your club's achievements, elect the 2012-2013 Executive
Board, and dance the night away at the Governor's Ball on Saturday night. Don't
miss out on the most amazing Key Club event of the year!!!” –CNH Website
Here’s the logo for the 66th annual
District Convention, designed by
Kathleen Nyugen!
The 66th Annual Cali-Nev-Ha District Convention will be
held in Santa Clara from April 13th to 15th. The convention is
expensive (see the full breakdown of cost on the CNH
website, cnh.keyclub.org) so if you and your club want to
attend, start planning your fundraisers now! One of the things
you can do is ask your local Kiwanis Club for a sponsorship—
again, go to the CNH website for an official letter of
solicitation. However, don’t rely solely on your Kiwanis; think
for yourselves and pick the brains of all your friends and
fellow club members for creative ideas. This event is
particularly important for officers and those who want to
become officers, but as many members as possible are
encouraged to attend!

At the DCM on November 19th, 2011, the news became
official: D27 is separating in two. It’s not time for us to part just yet,
but in case you missed the meeting, take a look at the divisions of
the future.
"I'm thankful not only for the opportunity to meet new people from Key Club but also for the chance to really make a difference by helping my community... It just makes me feel like a better person."
"I'm thankful that I'm still breathing each day I wake up in the morning and for my family that stands there, works, loves me, and gives me a home to live. I am
thankful for the friends that support and encourage me to do impossible things. I am also thankful for the
blessings that I receive each day from God."
"I am most thankful for the people in my life. They are always there when I need
them the most. I really don't know what I would do
without the support and motivation they provide
me."
"I'm thankful for my dad being home from war in the middle east."
“I’m thankful for the live I am living, the people that are close to me, for the soldiers fighting in the war, and for everything I have.”
“I’m thankful for my family!”
"I am thankful for helping out others and meeting new people."
“I’m thankful for having sucha wonderful Key Club Family. Having the opportunity to help out my community gives me the best feeling. I’m thankful for Key Club to accept people for who they are, no one is judged. I’m thankful for the club because it allows us to meet new people. I’m thankful for
everything the club provided. "

Bear Creek Key Club is rapidly becoming more involved in the community as
the holiday season approaches. On Friday, November 11, we worked in
conjunction with the BC Drama Department for a canned food drive. Every can
donated at the box office reduced the price of one's ticket. This new event
proved very successful, and we now have two completely full boxes of canned
foods to donate to Salvation Army! The next morning a few of our members also
volunteered at Premier Credit Union's 3rd annual Shred & E-Waste Day, helping
manage a prize booth. In the near future, we will participate in the Thanksgiving
Run and Walk Against Hunger and a Kiwanis Takeover/Bake Sale. As THE largest
club on campus, BC Key Club is definitely peaking at the Creek!
Recently West High Key Club took
part in the Kiwanis Takeover on
Thursday, November 10, as part of Key
Club week. We got to auction off our
homemade, baked goods. It was a fun
and an exciting event. Our Key Club
president, Joyce Chua, said, "We had
a lot of fun and the Kiwanis members
joked a lot. Some donated cans to the
Interfaith Ministries Food Drive."
This month, some of our members helped out with the Lincoln High Marching
Band on October 17. Also, on the 17th and 18th, some of our members
volunteered at a bird symposium at the Hilton Hotel. Next month, we at
Lincoln High will be having a bake sale and volunteer at Mickey Grove at the
Festival of Trees.
Now that Fall Rally North is over, Tracy High has been focusing on planning
future service projects, especially with Thanksgiving right around the corner. On
either the 21st or 22nd, we will be feeding the homeless shelter for their
Thanksgiving dinner. Sometime next week, we will also visit a family at the
McHenry house and bring crafts to do with the kids. It will be a great way for
members to give back to the community this Thanksgiving season.
SECA has done no recent
volunteering, but we have been
working on our Operation
Wishlist, which is the toy drive for
UC Davis' childrens’ hospital. It is
a partner project with Student
Government of SECA. In a sense
our club is suspended to
volunteer until we get the parent
volunteer and other old business
taken care of.
Good evening and hello! November has been a slow month for Franklin Key
Club due to the short days and upcoming break, but after Thanksgiving we
are going to kick it into high gear. We plan to begin fund raising for Key Club
by selling goodies and whatnot and also we have quite a few community
service events planned in early December; we also are planning to help the
food bank and the Saint Mary's Dining Hall.
Middle College is all over the place this fall! In October, we participated in
our annual Manteca Sunrise Kiwanis Pumpkin Fair, tending the Kids Zone,
selling ice, and working at jump houses. Fundraising was a blast as we
donated over $750 for PTP at Fall Rally. Our 105 troops of Grizzlies marched into
Six Flags and dominated the rally. President Shelly and Secretary Aileen
worked the auction at Fall Rally and bought 3 LTG’s and 1 District officer on
behalf of Division 27. We had to save our own and spent the most on our
Lieutenant Governor, bidding $1700. MCHS Key Club fundraised by selling
Grizzly Sweaters to other clubs in our division as well as in other divisions! LTG
Bruce and our VP Nikki were able to promote our gear and spread around
Grizzly spirit. We also volunteered at the St. Joseph’s Half Marathon. 6
members from MCHS attended the Awake-a-thon, and being the only 6
representing D27, they showed pride in being Grizzlies.
