REASONING: Our essential goal is that we will provide every student with a rich academic experience that inspires them to learn with confidence through our vigorous curriculum, our signature programs, and the opportunities to experience the values of the school in everyday life. We must continue to improve our curriculum and to make certain the curriculum is dynamic, forward thinking, and consistent with research-proven and nationally-recognized best practices.

REASONING: Election to the Board of Trustees carries with it a responsibility of stewardship. By definition, trustees are the custodians of the school: They hold “in trust” the mission and the school’s reputation. Methods to improve the efficacy, efficiency, and accountability of the board and of its committees should be continuously addressed and evaluated.

REASONING: Prudent financial management has put Good Shepherd in a solid financial position not enjoyed by many independent schools. However, annually we must plan to provide appropriate levels of financial resources to increase endowment and facility needs, while keeping the school affordable.

REASONING: With its fifty-year history of growth from first a prekindergarten school as an outreach of the church to additions of grade sections and levels, the school has always posed a branding challenge. The new Mission Statement and Grocery Store Pitch creates an opportunity to refine a marketing approach to highlight differentiating strengths and our most prominent commitments and characteristics. We will effectively promote those in the Metroplex area.

REASONING: We are a parish school located in a growing North Dallas neighborhood where our entire community represents present and future generations. The school is proud of our community make-up, its tradition as a mission of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, and our heritage. We want to grow in partnership with our constituents and our relationship with the church, to fulfill our mission to serve with compassion and lead with courage, and cultivate an authentic sense of belonging.
