Web Interface
Similar format but new look/feel
Config page better organised
Bigger buttons for easier use on tablets and phones

Spectrum Analysis
Can do Spectrum analysis without recording OR
While recording
Look at 4 signals
Or look at Spectrum in recorded files

Output Gain
Previously the output RF signal was always played back ‘high’ by around 20dB, to overcome any losses in cable, splitters, and the noise figure of the receiver front end. Ensured no loss in CNo of GNSS signal.
Now option
+ 20dB
+10 dB
0 dB
Note: with 0dB might get CNo loss

AGC compensation
During recording the 6450 AGC varies the input gain to optimise signal level for best recording.
Effectively sets recording at same level regardless of input signal levels. OK for GNSS as all signals are approx. the same strength.
Now we monitor and record the signal level during Recording and on Playback offer two options
1) AGC Compensation ON
Plays back the signal within 3dB of the original RF signal level
2) AGC Compensation OFF
Plays back at a nominal level. (As per last 6450 release and 6425)
For std GNSS tests use AGC off and +20dB output gain

Input Gain
Input Gain Setting
Automatic Gain set automatically on the received signal
Low Use for 8 or 16 bit recordings for signals in the range -80dBm to -30dBM
Medium Use for 8 or 16 bit recordings for signals in the range -100dBm to -40dBM
High Use for 8 or 16 bit recordings for signals in the range -120dBm to -55dBM
Note: Setting the input gain to anything other than Automatic is not recommended for 2
or 4 bit recordings as the dynamic range of the recording is low and it is likely that the
input signal will be outside of the normal recording range of the system.
Input Gain on RF1 (RF2 and RF3) can now be varied
For std GNSS tests leave as Automatic

Improved Phase noise
The attached plot shows the
phase noise from the live
signal in red, and the replayed
signal in blue. There is very
little additional phase noise
generated during the
record/replay process

Carrier phase cycles
In all 1RF units shipped 1 Jan and
3 RF units

Video recording
Record Video (up to 4 devices)
Recorded simply by inserting a WebCam into a USB port
Video stored synchronously. Within 0.5s of the GNSS signals
• Recorded at 640 x 480 pixels at a rate of 15 frames persecond
• Stored in .mp4 format
Plays back onto an attached display
Video can be controlled during playback using a keyboard

Built in High Speed CAN Interface
GSS6450 V3 hardware now includes 2 x HS CAN interface devices
Connected via the AUX port
Recorded synchronous with GNSS signals. Uses Sync 1a and Sync 1b,
Allows HS CAN up to 1Mbps
• Connects to Low Speed and Single Wire CAN via interface adapter
HS CAN requires no external interface box
Dumb interface
• No bus acknowledgements during recording
• No bus arbitration during playback

Optional CAN-FD Interface
External CAN-FD interface unit
Two High-speed CAN channels (ISO 11898-2)
Comply with CAN specifications 2.0 A/B and FD
CAN FD support for ISO and Non-ISO standards
CAN FD bit rates for the data field (64 bytes max.) from 25 kbit/s up to 12 Mbit/s
CAN bit rates from 25 kbit/s up to 1 Mbit/s
Status signalling with two 2-color LEDs
Connections via two 9-pin D-Sub connectors
13Spirent Communications PROPRIETARY AND CONFIDENTIAL
