SELF FINANCED COLLEGES

About the Course

1. M. Ed. is a regular Course of two year duration and divided in four semesters according to National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) Norms and Regulation 2014.

2. This is a regular course, in which student has to be present in the college for study according to the norms of UGC, NCTE and Gujarat University. No Institute, affiliated to Gujarat University, offers external course. GO TO INDEX

Colleges & Seats

3. M. Ed. Course is run in Department of Education, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad and 16 other Self-Financed colleges which are affiliated to Gujarat University. The list of all such colleges is given at the end of this booklet.

4. There are total 50 seats in each of the colleges and department of Education. GO TO INDEX

Eligibility for Admission

5. The candidate, who has completed B.Ed. from UGC and NCTE recognized Teacher Education Institute (Education College) with at least 55% marks (SC, ST - 50%), can apply for admission in M. Ed.

6. A common merit list is generated for English and Gujarati medium candidates.

Allocation of Seats

Seats for the Candidates of Different Universities

7. The candidate, who has completed their B.Ed. from Gujarat University, is treated as GU (Gujarat University) candidate for admission procedure. 93% of the seats are allocated to such candidates. Such candidate has to submit Transfer Certificate after getting admission in respective college in time.

The candidate who has done any further study after B. Ed. in any other University and has taken the migration certificate from Gujarat University has to Submit Provisional Eligibility Certificate along with registration form. (See instruction No. 11 & 12) If the candidate hides any information regarding his / her last University, his / her admission is liable to be cancelled at any time of his / her study.

8. 5% of total seats are reserved for the candidates who have completed their B.Ed. from other University of Gujarat. Such candidates are treated as OUG (Other University of Gujarat) candidate. 2% seats are reserved for those who have completed B.Ed. from the universities of other than Gujarat State. Such students are treated as OU (Other State’s University) candidate.

9. Only one seat out of 50 seats of each college or department is allocated for the candidates who have done their B.Ed. in GBTC (Basic B.Ed.) pattern. Such candidate can get the admission only if his / her merit is more than the merit of last candidate of the Gujarat University, who is given admission in the respective category.

10. If the candidate has completed B. Ed. from other than Gujarat University, he / she has to submit a Photocopy of Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) along with registration form. If a photocopy of such certificate is not submitted with registration form, the form will be rejected.

If the candidate has done last study in Gujarat University after B. Ed. and has already submitted his migration to GU, he / she does not need to take PEC. But in such condition also he is considered as OUG or OU student, whatever is applicable, for admission procedure. Such candidate has to submit Transfer Certificate after getting admission in respective college in time.

11. The PEC is issued by Gujarat University, after submitting the form of PEC to Eligibility Department, Room NO. 14, Gujarat University Main Building, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad. The form for PEC is available at Central Consumer Store, Opp. Department of Languages, Gujarat University, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad. The candidate has to get PEC form checked from eligibility department of Gujarat University. Such dully filled form is to be submitted in Eligibility Department of Gujarat University after paying prescribed fees of the same at Cash Counter at main building of Gujarat University.

12. If PEC is not issued by Gujarat University on the same day, a photocopy of receipt of Fees paid for PEC instead of PEC is to be submitted along with registration form. But, after getting the admission in any college, the candidate has to produce original PEC in respective college in time, otherwise he / she will not be allowed to give any examination conducted by the college / university or his result of M. Ed. will not be declared.

Seats for the Candidates of Different Categories 13. As per State Government Rules 7 % seats for SC, 15% for ST and 27% seats are reserved for

SEBC candidates for admission procedure and 51% seats are open for all the candidates.

14. SC candidate has to submit cast certificate issued by authentic official to get the benefit of reservation seats. If a photocopy of such certificate is not submitted with registration form, the concerned candidate will be treated as a candidate of General Category. Top

15. SEBC candidate has to submit a photocopy of ‘Non Creamy Layer’ certificate issued by

authentic official to get the benefit of reservation seats. This certificate must be issued after 1-04-2015. If a photocopy of such certificate is not submitted with registration form, the concerned candidate will be treated as a candidate of General Category.

Seats for Physically disabled and blind candidates 16. 3% of total seats are reserved for physically disabled and blind candidates, out of which 2%

seats for physically disabled and 1% seats are reserved for blind students. But these all seats are merged in respective category of such candidates shown in instruction no. 13, therefore overall reservation remains 49% only.

17. The candidate having physical disability between 40% and 60% only is considered as a physically disabled candidate for admission procedure. Such candidate has to submit a certificate issued by Civil Surgeon showing percentage of his / her disability. If a photocopy of such certificate is not submitted with registration form, the concerned candidate will be treated as a candidate of General Category. GO TO INDEX

Scheme of Preparing Merit List for Admission 18. Percentage of the scores (Marks) secured by the candidate in Compulsory papers in

University (External) exam of B. Ed. is considered for preparing Merit List for admission procedure. Percentage of the marks obtained in compulsory papers in University Exam of all the semesters is considered for preparing merit list, if the candidate has completed B. Ed. in semester system.

19. In addition to the marks of merit, 1 mark for each year of experience is also counted to prepare final merit list, provided that the candidate has experience in Government recognized secondary school or higher secondary school after completion of his / her B. Ed. Maximum 5 marks is added in Merit Marks on the basis of experience. Candidate has to submit photo copies of his / her appointment letter, Experience Certificate, Service Book and latest No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by school authority along with registration form. If a photo copy of any of these documents is not submitted with registration form, benefit of experience will not be given to the candidate in preparing his / her merit marks for admission procedure.

20. If two or more candidates have the same merit marks, preference will be given on the following basis in sequence.

a. Total external marks in B.Ed. Examination.

b. Total of internal and external marks in B.Ed. examination.

c. Percentage marks obtained at the graduation level.

21. After calculation of merit is done as shown in instruction No. 20, if two or more candidates have the same merit marks, decision of M.Ed. admission committee will be final.

22. Candidate of other universities are given admission only if their merit mark is equal to or more than the merit mark of last GU candidate who has been given admission in any college. GO TO INDEX

Check List and Counselling Session for College Selection 27. Generally, within three or four days of last date of submitting registration form, a checklist

(Provisional Merit List) is declared. The candidate can see this list on official website of University that is “www.gujaratuniversity.org.in”. The candidate is also informed for the same through SMS.

28. Counselling session is arranged for the candidate to select a college. Place, date and time for the same is declared on official web site of Gujarat Universities and in some of the leading newspapers published from Ahmedabad. So the candidates are advised to be in touch with University web site and keep checking the local newspapers after submitting registration form.

28. Candidate has to be present personally at the time of counselling.

29. There is common counselling session for admission for University Department and other colleges. GO TO INDEX

General Instructions 30. Registration forms with incorrect or partial information are cancelled or not accepted.

31. List of Documents to be Submitted Along with Registration Form

Registration form along with photocopies of the following testimonials and documents are to be submitted in personal. Registration form sent through currier and post, is not accepted.

a. Mark sheets of First Year, Second Year and Third year of Graduation Level. b. Mark sheets of First Year and Second year of Post-Graduation Level (If PG is

completed). c. Mark sheets of both the semesters of B. Ed. or a mark sheet of final examination, if

B. Ed. is done in yearly pattern. d. Cast Certificate (For SC and ST candidate) e. Non Creamy Layer Certificate (For SEBC candidate) f. PEC or Receipt of fees paid for PEC (For OU and OUG candidate and for whom it is

applicable) g. Civil Surgeon’s Certificate Showing percentage of Disability (For physically disabled

and blind candidate) h. Service book, NOC, Appointment Letter, Experience Certificate (For Experienced

Candidate) 32. At the time of submitting the registration form and during counselling session, all the

original documents have to be presented by the candidates for checking only. The admission committee checks it and if any false information is found, the registration form will be cancelled.

The candidate who has completed B. Ed. from Gujarat University in 2014-2015, are allowed to present a copy of Mark-sheet downloaded from University’s official website,

if the original marks-sheet is not issued by the University till the date of submitting registration form gets over. Such candidate has to produce original marks-sheet at the time of counselling. GO TO INDEX

33. Candidate has to use his / her Registration Number, provided by admission committee at the time of submitting registration form, for further inquiry-.

34. The category of the candidate is not changed, after given admission once.

35. The candidate has no right to change the college after getting admission in one college.

36. Candidate has to pay the fees for first semester in CASH only at the time of counselling. If fees is not paid at a time, the candidate cannot get admission.

37. Amount of the fees: a. University Department :

i. Male candidates: Rs. 2,190.00 (First Semester Fees)

ii. Female candidates: Rs. 1,190.00 (First Semester Fees)

b. Self Financed College :

Male and female candidates: Rs. 22,500.00 (First Semester Fees)

Fees for Self-Financed colleges will be finalized by the Fee Committee. Fees shown above is adhoc, there may be a change according to the decision of the fee committee.

35. Once fees is paid, it will not be refunded. GO TO INDEX

36. The candidate is bound to follow the rules and regulation of the college, university, UGC and NCTE and commitment for the same is to be given in writing.

37. All the decisions taken by the M.Ed. admission committee regarding interpretation of the rules formed for merit marks, allocation of seats and selection of college will be final.

38. During the process of admission if any candidate is found pressurizing or threatening any member of M.Ed. admission committee or any staff member of M.Ed. admission cell, admission committee has right to terminate the admission of such candidate.

39. M.Ed. admission committee has a right to change any of the rules of admission in legal way, if it is required.

40. The application form may be submitted on working days between 11.15 am and 5.00 pm daily (Except Sundays and Holidays) till the last date of the submission of form at IAS Training Centre, B/H. SBI, Gujarat University, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad-380009.

41. Lectures are delivered in respective medium of the college only, but the candidate can give exams in any of the Hindi, Gujarati and English language.

42. The admission given in the department or colleges is Subject to the revised order of recognition issued by NCTE to the respective college.
